After like 5 hours of sleep I woke up in the morning of what'd become a special day for sure, I only needed to open my eyes to be sure. As it was wednesday, 29-6 and later this day, The Corrs would be performing in Bonn!
So packed my stuff and arrived at the station, where a loudspeaker say saying lightning had chashed down train traffic on two places so it was a mess. tho, at 8:40 my train, the 8:40 did arrive so no difficulties. But in Germany it was a mess, canceled trains and later on lots of delays so i arrived a bit later than expected and swore a lot about the german trains I think (tho I did travel with a local transport ticket in the high speed train ).
I met my friend Flo at the hotel, and we talked and relaxed a little and near 3 we went to the concert place. There already were people waiting and so we joined in. I also found another friend of me, Swantje and she had a few others around there aswell, with who I had a lovely chat!
They also played music for us at the concert hall while we waited outside (open air is nice) but we think now, it might've been a cd instead of The Corrs. Anyway it was great for the athmosphere. At 6 or so they opened the gates and everyone pushed the others inside so we also got in.
We ended up like 6th row from the stage, so pretty close. First we got a german band warming us up. The girl could sing well, but her music wasn't amusing me that much, so I am sorry, but I was keen to see her finish and have The Corrs coming!
When they came up, it was the first time for me to see Jason and Kieran, they weren't at the Ahoy concert last year. And thanks to have another main drummer, we were able to hear, and maybe even better: SEE more of Caroline. She did do many other things than drumming. also often we saw her playing the beloved bodhran, which also quite suits to the more irish sounds of the new songs. But also to the old songs such as Forgiven Not Forgotten. And she also came a lot away from her kit and sat next to Andrea, or near Jim, so we did see a lot of her. I got the idea she also has a new bodhran, can anyone tell me if that's a right thought? Anyway I did enjoy the concert a lot, maybe even better than last time and also the fact that Caro did join her siblin again after her pregnancy was great, I did miss her as I'm still mainly a Cazzer. Tho I also liked watching how Sharon and Jim did perform, it was really cool. What also made it better in my opinion was that they did play so much songs of TOC and FNF, at least in my opinion. I haven't seen any tracklist yet, but I believe so yet! And ofcourse the new songs, with Black Is The Colour, I really love that song.
At 10 or so they already stopped, which was really early in my idea, they should have continued! After wich I went back with the group of Swantje. Then we went to the back exit, to wait for the Corrs to come out. The others thought they wouldn't come anymore and so did leave us after I think half an hour or so. The rain was already pooring down on us. So it was just me and Flo left, but he also found his group of German corrs fans back, and we waited together. AQnd we were lucky, after a while, Anto Drennan did come out at last! he was really kind, and gave a lot of signatures. Also a few girls wanted to go on a picture with him, which he also did. then Keith, Jason and Keiran later joined aswell, and also signed a bit. You can see I also got their signatures woohoo, I've scanned it and hope you like it!
After this hectic add on, Flo did also found two german girls who were staying at thesame hotel we were staying, and, very nice, were by car, so we got offered to drive with them. Some trouble finding a parking place there in the rain but we managed to, and then Flo and I wanted to eat a pizza. But when we arrived at the restaurant it turned out to be closed, so starving to death, we bought some snack at the hotel. And joined a famous room with other corrs fans with some Vodka and lotsa Irish music and pictures. I also received an sms there of a sad Swantje and Sabine, very afraid they did miss it all.
The next day Flo and I also went to Cologne, and climbed up the Cathedral. after Flo told me he lost track after the 500th stair, we reached the top. a guy there told us we were at like 125 meters. We watched around, and enjoyed the scenic view we had over the valley of the Rhine and seeing the hills very far away. After we went down again, the service in the church was finished and we could also visit the church, which was very gigantic!
After that I took the train home again, this time I had only 30 minutes delay and was lucky, cos at the track my village is on the lighting did slam into, so there was no traffic. but when i arrived and looked for info they just announced that there was a train waiting to depart that'd only go to Best!
