Tara BlaiseI have to say that, at first, I was not thrilled when I heard that the Corrs' manager, John Hughes, has found a new singer named Tara Blaise. I didn't want him to split his energies between two different acts. Now, after listening to some of her work, I have to say I really like her! You can't help but think that Tara Blaise is good if Hughes has decided to undertake her management. At the same time, however, it certainly puts a lot of pressure on Tara Blaise with all the comparisons between her and the Corrs. I think she has great looks, stage presence (she has studied acting) and, most importantly, a GREAT voice. Tara Blaise was once in the one of Ireland's top Irish bands called KayDee. However, she has gone solo and now has her own album out called Dancing On Tables Barefoot which is produced by Ollo Romo, the producer of the Corrs. The songs on the album are written by herself and John Hughes. You can check out her video "Paperback Cliché" on her website. www.tarablaise.co.uk/index.htmlI enjoyed her performance of "Paperback Cliché" on the "Kelly Show" on May 13, 2005 that's still available for download HERE (thanks to TJ). I also liked her vocals on John Hughes' album Wild Ocean, where she sings on two of the tracks, "Dancing in the Wind" and "Come Away." One review states that " Tara Blaise effortlessly rises to the emotions of the music on both tracks." Below is a link to the very cool Wild Ocean UK website, where one can hear the music from John Hughes' album, including the tracks featuring Tara Blaise: www.wildocean.co.uk/Make sure to click "Sound - OFF" before listening to the tracks! I found an "Times Online" article HERE where John Hughes talks about taking on the management of Tara Blaise. I also found this additional information on Tara Blaise at the website for the Isle of Wight Festival where she performed on Saturday, June 11, 2005. Pictures HERE. In one of them, it sure looks like Anto Drennan on the stage behind her! I'll be interested to see how well her new album is received, and if it will be released in the States. Kerry (MidnightSun) contributed to the research on this post!

Wow, Steve, Kerry, that´s a whole lot of info about Tara! Thanks for that.
Well, so I have been listening to some of the audio files on her website. I am not to sure if I can say much about it now. Maybe I´ll have to listen to it again, sometimes you start really liking a song when you hear it two or three times. At the moment however I am not too thrilled by what I heard so far. Which does not mean that I do not like the songs. But I find it slightly difficult to get used to her vocals...but as said MAYBE when I will listen to the songs some more (Maybe even the whole songs.) I´ll suddenly love them. It happened to me a lot with other artists.

When I first downloaded the Kelly Show performance of "Paperback Cliché" and watched it, I thought it was just "okay." I suppose I was even predisposed to NOT like it, perhaps out of a feeling of loyalty to my favourite group, the Corrs. However, after watching it a few more times (almost a month later), I really started liking the song, the great effect with the cello, and the interesting, very "Irish-sounding" vocals. It's probably unfair to compare Tara Blaise to Andrea Corr, although everybody will because of their common manager, John Hughes. There certainly will never be another Andrea Corr!! But I do think Ms. Blaise has her own different style of true talent.

Can someone do me a favour? Can you tell me if the music player at Tara's site sounds funny to you also or is it just me? www.tarablaise.com/I emailed Stylorouge about 10 days ago, and the site still sounds the same to me.

Wow that's the 1st I had ever heard of her sing-she's great! To answer your question it sounds fine until I move my volume button then I hear popping noise.

Thanks for checking, Scott. It sounds terribly garbled on my computer. The videos play better at her site but I also have that popping noise on those too. I was checking it out and noticing that Tara, who is/was managed by John Hughes and Barry Gaster - just like the Corrs - has made a better effort on her official website than the Corrs. Tara used Stylorouge, whom the Corrs also use for some of their publicity. However, it's no good if the music doesn't play properly at the site!

Have liked what I've heard from her in the past. One of John Hughes's Wild Ocean tracks "Deo" was actually "adopted" by a state tourist authority out here !
Looking at her clips, you can definitely see that her manager "looks out for her" and surrounds her with the best. We've known about her working with Anto but that was definitely that disreputable Duffy fella we saw in her IOW clip and most likely little brother was also roped in.
She definitely has was it takes; stage presence, looks great, projects personality & speaks well and most importantly has REAL talent. The drawback is that she is with a small label. For all it's sterling qualities, Spokes Records (like any other Indie) lacks the scope for distribution/production beyond domestic (Ire/UK) UNLESS wider distribution/promotion deals can be struck.

Yes, I forgot to mention the little cameo by Keith Duffy! She's really great, I think. She deserves to be widely appreciated. I have to find out about her second album. Maybe she needs to become a Twitterholic and take her music straight to the fans, because certainly so many of the Corrs fans like Tara's music. BTW, Wombat, are you following her on Twitter? ( twitter.com/tara_blaise) She deserves more followers. We need to nominate her as Ms. Twitter Ireland and start a voting campaign!

I'm up at 5:00 a.m. with an awful headache from sleeping with my neck twisted and the Advil hasn't kicked in. I thought, "let's go for it!" I started a Ms. Twitter campaign for Tara Blaise. At the moment, she has 2 votes and is on page 3. I figure that any publicity is good. It helped Sharon. The leader right now has only 661 votes and, if we could get Tara to the lead, then she'd be entered in the continental competition too. That might get her some listeners and earn her a few "followers", right? ;D tweeterwall.mallplace.com/tw/ireland/ms-twitter
