Sorry, Simone! I didn't see this post until now. But I saw this song at your MySpace, and I liked it. I think Edie Brickell was married to Paul Simon (at least for a while). Don't hear much of her lately, but she's still making music!

Mary Black is a legendary and influential Irish singer of folk and contemporary music. She preceded the Corrs in covering " No Frontiers"; "Dimming Of The Day" and " Heart Like A Wheel". Needless to say, she has had an influence on the Corrs. Other songs of hers that I really like are " Song for Ireland"; "Both Sides The Tweed"; "Say A Little Prayer"; and " Fields of Gold". I can't ever seem to find higher quality videos of her singing, particularly of her big hits, but this live performance of the ballad "Farewell, Farewell" from the Transatlantic Sessions (from Dailymotion) might give you some idea of her beautifully clear and precise vocals: www.dailymotion.com/video/x2k57b_mary-black-farewell-farewell-transa_musicMary Black's MySpace is: www.myspace.com/maryblackmusicShe has a sister named Frances Black who is also a fine singer. I, at least, like her music very much.

Those are great tunes, Steve! And Mary singing to the sea in "Song for Ireland", with that beautiful sunset At first, I can hardly recognize The Corrs covers (Mary is higher than Andrea). Thanx for sharing

Yes!! Me too.
"My Immortal" a beautiful, emotionally-charged and very enduring song... very much like a piece of classical music at first and then it rocks!
Great choice, Cosita! ;D
Have a great weekend, everyone! It's off to work I go...

I bought a cd that collects the best movie soudtracks I really love that one from Pulp Fiction (I saw John Travolta's gesture on the dance floor recently ;D ;D) www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJbh_IB67gQAnd the second one ... aaawww... the one for The Full Monty : Donna Summer "Hot Stuff"!!! I still remember of myself hiding behind the couch while my elders were dancing, that's why I can dance now (but, hey, din't told you anything ) www.youtube.com/watch?v=27-TM3q5-CcHope you'll like it ;D

Oh! ;D ;D ;D
Hahaha! You must be in the mood for dancing! Donna Summer was HUGE in my younger days, that's for sure. Though I was more "rock" than "disco" in those days, even now I can't help but sing along with her hits and, well, maybe.... DANCE (just a leeeeetle, so as not to embarrass myself *lol*).
Thanks for those clips, Simone! ;D
More, more, more (how do you like it, how do you like it?)

Thanks so much, Simone. I started to watch these in the morning before work, but I had to be at work early, so I didn't get to finish. I will check these out when I get home tonight. There were several Corrs fans at the Corr Club off-topic board who were saying that they recommend the music of Hélène Ségara, so I was curious. From what little I saw and heard this morning, she does have a GREAT voice. Somehow, though (at first listen), I prefer Nolwenn's lower but 'fuller' vocals even if Nolwenn's are slightly less precise. Both singers are excellent in their own ways. Thanks for including the Nolwenn performance too. It can't be easy to be on stage trying to sing a song that was sung by the great Edith Piaf , who was also mentioned in the discussion at the OT Board!

Simone, I watched all of the Hélène Ségara songs you posted. Those are really good. "Y'a trop de gens qui t'aime" is a pretty song, I think. Merci. Okay here's a video by Shakira. The video is boring, but the song is lovely, I think. Whatever has become of her, she does have true talent as a singer. Here's a video she did of a Spanish song called "Tù" before she got really big. www.dailymotion.com/video/x2tfvy_shakira-tu_music
