I love the way she just burst on the scene in the mid-1990's and helped to revive the singer/songwriter genre. She's definitely written some classics. "Foolish Games" (the Batman movie soundtrack version) is probably my favorite, but there are lots of others.

I think she was also brought up with it, Her dad always took her to concerts and all. so not a miracle she started to perform herself. But she makes great music

Ok, time for Miss Jewelaholic to say something here as well. *lol* (Did you know that in my yearbook -it´s rather a magazin, we don´t have yearbooks like in the US...anyway there it says about me "total Jewel-fanatic". Which was due to the fact that I´ve been babbling about her lyrics and poems all day. I just find her so incredibly gifted. Her lyrics are some of the best that I know. And it´s amazing how all of her songs have that little special something about them. I always enjoy to listen to her old stuff back from the Innerchange Coffeehouse days...and then compare it with her new stuff and see all those conections. It´s also interesting to see how certain songs developed throughout the years. Funnily enough most of my favorite Jewel songs have never been released on official albums. So I guess most of you won´t know them... And yes Eelke, that´s true she used to perform with her parents when she was a kid...you should read her second book "Chasing down the dawn" if you wanna know the whole story. I´d also strongly recomend her poetry. She inspired me a lot.

But her song was the soundtrack? Didn't know that. Yep, "Foolish games" was the "Batman&Robin" soundtrack. And to proove it I just took a look on my old "Foolish games" single and had to laugh, ´cause it´s even got the Batman logo on it. Hihi.

Hmm if you borrow me something I might read it. or I'll just surf the net for some articles Jewel is cool. What made you actually become a fan, Swanny? Believe it ornot but I became a fan through her poetry first! I went into a book shop, desperatly needing to read ANYTHING, ´cause I was really bored. So I found her first book and though..."Hm...don´t I know her? Jewel...somehow rings a bell." So i bought the book, fell in love with it and then decided to get a CD. Bought "Spirit", went home, listened to it, went back to the shop to buy "Pieces of you" as well, went home, listened to it, knew that THAT was what music is all about. Well and the rest is history, got all her albums, bootlegs and stuff.... Oh and about borrowing the book...don´t get this wrong but I don´t borrow my Jewel books...it´s just...well, you don´t borrow the special things from your collections...it´s just a collectors bad habit kinda thing. *lol* Sorry.

While looking for pictures of Bryan Adams for a video that I am making for the Bryan Adams Fanbase, I came across this picture of Jewel, so, knowing we have several Jewel fans here, I had to post it : Size has been reduced.

Ow, THANK YOU, Steve!!!! This one´s from the "0304" phase. A friend of mine told me that her new albm´s supposed to be released on May 2nd and that the title´s gonna be "Goodbye Alice in Wonderland". Unfortunately I didn´t find out whether that release date is for the states or for Eurpoe. As you know I always want to have all new Jewel releases as soon as possible because it usually takes ages for her to finally release a new album and right now I hunger for new Jewel input! AH!

Okay, just found this: Jewel is releasing a home-made video of the title-track of her new album Goodbye Alice In Wonderland. This will be available online from Monday 30th January at the Official Jewel website www.jeweljk.com. However, Jewel fan club members get a sneak preview at Jewel Unedited from this Wednesday. The "video was shot spontaneously during a recent Jewel photo session with acclaimed Montana-based photographer Kurt Markus. Filmed on Jewel's Texas ranch, the homegrown clip beautifully reflects both the song's organic, intimate sound and its powerfully autobiographical story." The first single "Again and Again" is expected to be added to US radio stations from 27th February, the album is due for release in the US on 2nd May.
