Steve, I like the idea of tailoring single releases to different markets. But I wonder if it would all be done at the same time i.e. INAD in one country at the same time as EGTLS in another country. I wonder if it would be more productive to choose a single and start to market it all over. Really hit the places where it's taking off, and then once that starts to wear off, market the next single. Then try to really work that single in the markets where the first one didn't take off. My head is spinning just thinking of it! Yeah, I think it wouldn't be a good idea to do it all at the same time. Doing it per territory is better and more realistic. Wait with the release of a single in a certain territory until she can actually promote it there.... the downside is that the fans over there have to wait longer to get the single (/album). Releasing different singles in Europe is manageable, but wait with releasing stuff in Asia, US or Brazil/South America...

Spanish-speaking and we should add Portuguese, too. Andrea had a warm reception in Spain. Sharon hasn't forgotten that and her appearance a few month back with Álex Ubago clearly showed that Spain is a major focus. I think Brazil will also be given focus, as well. She has many avid fans in Mexico too. Spain was a very fertile area for the Corrs from a long time back & there was the return collaborations with Alejandro Saiz. Sharon has already dived straight into that pool with an artistically succesful duet with Alex Ubago. She does appear to have some spoken facility in the language which will be helpful although she claims to sing better in Spanish than speak it. (Sorry if I did get that wrong). I would think that Mexico & Argentina may be the best options in the Spanish speaking market outside of Europe, both on the grounds of identified Corrs fans but more importantly market size. Much may hinge on the existance of any English speaking or bilingual broadcast media outlets. Mexico MAY have something but am uncertain. I do know of an English language newspaper in Buenos Aires but am doubtful re broadcast media. Will be curious about Brasil. IB DID actually sell quite well down there; a Brasilian duo DID cover DSYLM & we do have clear evidence of a devoted Corrs following. The question is how she can be promoted there as Portugese rather than Spanish is the primary language & I have no recollection of Portugal being a market targetted by the Corrs. The broadcast media IS Portugese language although English is a prominent 2nd language especially in the major centres amongst the younger & better educated demographic. Let's hope she CAN get her music down to that wonderful group of crazies ... they deserve it.

The wait won't be so bad if there are extra goodies that are released with each subsequent release - bonus tracks and video clips from stops along the road. But if there are to be bonus tracks on albums (and I know Sharon mentioned Spain as possibly having a bonus track) - a good idea is to release those songs digitally so that they are available to everyone. I don't mind buying numerous copies of the album, but everyone shouldn't have to do that in order to get a bonus track. -- Marie
