In this video, Sharon is asked some excellent questions in connection with her new album Dream of You. This gives us some insight into the title track - written about her yet-to-be-born child, so it's a similar inspiration to "Miracle." One really gets an insight into how committed Sharon is to her craft, from choosing familiar musicians who are "in tune" with her to striving for that goal of music and lyrics complimenting each other. Yesterday (19 September), I heard three tracks on SoftRock UK (thanks to Keith Hazelton for playing them for this "deprived Americano"). I had not previously heard these three studio tracks: "Smalltown Boy", "Buenos Aires" (duet with Alex Úbago), and "Real World," which I found to be stunning in its sad beauty. "Smalltown Boy" was outstanding. It has been my observation that all of my favourite songwriters have within them a melancholy side in which to tap creatively, either through their own experiences or through a deep sense of "imaginative empathy." Not only with "Smalltown Boy," but also earlier with "Long Night," Sharon shows she has a gift of feeling something keenly - even if only in her imagination - and expressing it through music. With everything that I've heard thus far, I feel that Sharon has every reason to be very proud of what she has created.
