There is a MySpace tribute page for Anto Drennan's father, Tony Drennan, one of Ireland's first jazz pianists. Anto made the first post at the site. www.myspace.com/tonydrennanCheck it out if you want to hear some AMAZING jazz piano! A big thumbs up from me! You will gain an understanding of the kind of musical heritage that goes into Anto's superb guitar playing.

Having done some more "digging" and it is abundantly clear that all THREE of the families involved with the Corrs have an abundant stream of music talent in their genes. The Corr family speaks for itself. The Duffy family have also left a broad imprint with Keith being an "integral Corr", Jason's acceptance into the "inner Corr" on drums & other brother Paul contributing half of the "Miami Brass" section (with Ronan Dooney) on Give It All Up. That leaves us with the Drennan family. Although Anto is the only member to have been part of the Corrs, he is not the only son to inherit their father's musical gifts. His brother Paul (a keyboard player) was a member of a few minor Irish bands with Anto during the early 80's before later becoming a longterm member of the company of Riverdance. Another brother, Myles, has followed his father's footsteps into the jazz arena & has became one of Ireland's pre-eminent jazz musicians both on piano AND drums !! Given that Anto & Keith have been known to wander over into "that paddock" from time to time .... could we see another Drennan back a Corr female should any of them venture into the jazz field ?? Found a couple of YT clips of this Drennan www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZyPBW_uUREwww.youtube.com/watch?v=Xb9lw9-vnr8

Myles can be seen here playing the piano in rehearsals with an ailing Ronnie Drew shortly before his passing & Mary Coughlan. (It's not well-known that "Dubliner" Ronnie Drew had a fondness for jazz.)
I'm a fan of the piano music of Tony Drennan and very much believe that his work (including that which he did with bass player Jim McKay) should be released on CD. Myles' partner Petra (who created the Tony Drennan MySpace page) kindly shared more of this virtuosic jazz piano music with me and it is top-notch.

Yeah, saw that clip & thought of posting it but was not a particular fan of Mary Coughlan's vocals. Didn't know that Petra was behind her father-in-law's page but she is definitely a booster for her "lesser half".
Totally agree about Drennan senior, he was a pianist after my own heart .... no, let me rephrase that, he was a splendid musician not just an instrumentalist & I would love to hear more of his output. Interestingly, I beleive he died not that long after Jean Corr.
