cool list Steve, you like 'older' music I see? Beach Boys are cool I think. Thanks, Eelke! Yep, I guess I like 'older' music 'cause I am an 'older' person! ;D (Plus, I thought this was an "All-Time" list, not just ATM). Yes, the Beach Boys are great! It was very emotional watching Andrea sing "God Only Knows" with Brian Wilson at the Queen's Jubilee in June 2002. And during the video (which appears on the Party at the Palace DVD) I see Caroline briefly look over at Jim as if to say, "can you believe this, Jim?, you're singing with BRIAN WILSON!" and Jim, he looks so nervous to be singing with one of his heroes. Great moment! I got teary-eyed! I'll have to listen to some on your list, Eelke, as I have not ever heard several of them.

Yes, Brian Wilson is one of the Beach Boys and the oldest of three brothers who were part of the band. Sadly, the other two, Carl and Dennis Wilson, are no longer alive. In 1998, Carl lost his life to cancer and in Dennis accidentally drowned in 1983. Fortunately, after many years of silence, Brian Wilson returned to the studio. There's more info at the official website: www.thebeachboys.com/

Brian Wilson is a musical genius!!-check out beach boys today and pet Sounds for further proof. Of course Surf's Up shows it to. You have to get the dvd Endless Harmony-the best doc about the Beach Boys yet!! did you know dazed that brian wrote pet sounds because he was blown away by "Rubber Soul" then Beatles wrote sgt peppers in response to Pet Sounds.

it was a dream come true to watch Andrea sing "God Only Knows"-which is paul Mccartney's fav song It was a dream of mine, too, and a perfect song for Andrea's voice. I didn't know about this "dream pairing" until we were having the discussion on the CorrBoard back in March about what songs that we would like to see covered by the Corrs, and YOU (Andypandy) told me about it. Thanks for that! I saw "Endless Harmony" when it was televised; it's a great documentary. The Beach Boys truly revolutionized the ideas of what could be achieved in the studio. Like you say, the Beach Boys inspired many other artists and producers... the Beatles, Tom Petty, Michael Tretow (the recording engineer for ABBA), to name a few...

This is probably not a definitive list and in a random order. It is also hard how to include Corrs songs.
Time after time - Cyndi Lauper Borrowed heaven - The Corrs Bridge over troubled water - Simon and Garfunkel Hold on - Wilson phillips Luka - Suzanne Vega Only yesterday - Carpenters It must have been love - Roxette Every kinda people - Robert Palmer This woman's work - Kate Bush This one - Paul McCartney
