If you watch this interview from the evening entertainment show Xposé - www.tv3.ie/xpose.php?video=1622- you'll see Sharon confirm herself that she is working on a solo album. And she also confirms that Andrea has another "exciting acting role" in an upcoming film. Here's an article in yesterday's Evening Herald: The article states: Yummy Mummy Sharon Corr Finds Time For An Album
There's some good news in store for fans of gorgeous Sharon Corr. The Diary can reveal how the talented brunette is following in her sister's footsteps by releasing a solo album of her own...
...Sharon Corr, who along with her siblings, has sold 30 million records worldwide, has revealed how she is in the throes of completing her first release and hopes to put the finishing touches on it over the next couple of months.
She explained in an interview on Xposé how she's busy writing songs while juggling the pressures of motherhood after giving birth to two youngsters, Cathal (2) and Flori (1).
And while she has yet to come up with a title for the new album, she will also sing on the album while also playing the violin.
LAURELS Given that Sharon penned the chart-topping singles Runaway, So Young and Radio, she should find writing some new hits a piece of cake.
Her famous siblings haven't been resting either - Sharon revealed how fans of Andrea can expect to see her in an "exciting acting role" very shortly.

In that interview, she said the album would be a little similar with The Corrs one, since she wrote the songs for The Corrs. Maybe some kind of pop rock music. Hmmm....I could imagine probably something like Borrowed Heaven. I'm really curious to hear what sound it's like. Thanks for the info, Steve.

Will be interesting to hear more about this solo venture of Sharon's. I doubt she is seeking "world domination" commercially but rather more an expression of her own artistic personality. Being more secure in herself than Andrea, she may well be more successful in that regard.
I would be very interested to see who handles the production of this venture. Will she go down the Andrea track (which to my mind did not serve her well) OR will she work with someone from the "band" days. Undoubtedly this venture will involve other musicians so it would be interested to see who her collaborators may be:
1. if there is orchestral/strings involved, will we see Fiachra Trench ? 2. the likes of Keith & Anto 3. potential involvement on individual tracks from one or more of her sibs.

What about the lyrics? Once Andrea is the romantic one....What Sharon´s song would be about?

Well, I think Sharon certainly has the capacity to be romantic. I think "Long Night" is a very dramatic, romantic song. And, musically, Sharon's singing of "Dimming of the Day" is as about as romantic as it gets - it's a very passionate song.
But I'm curious about the lyrics too, since I believe that Andrea is the predominant lyric and melody-line writer for the Corrs. I could be wrong, but I believe that Sharon wrote lyrics for some of the Corrs' songs like "Goodbye" and "Hideaway." The lyrics of both of these songs really impress me.
I have a LOT of confidence in Sharon as a songwriter. I am REALLY curious as to whom she has chosen to produce her album.

It's "pop/rock", she says, but I also wonder whether there will there be one of those great melodic violin tracks like "Rebel Heart" or "Silver Strand".

Goodbye & So Young were the 2 best known of Shazz's lyric efforts. Many in the industry would happily retire having those 2 numbers in their resume. Melody-line, I think that was something that was spread around amongst the group.
Am definitely curious as to what will be seen in this project; namely the split between vocal & instrumental. Sharon is/has been a wonderful backing singer (Andrea should forever thankful to our two older sisters !!) and has certainly proven herself up to fronting up for some solo numbers BUT an entire album ??
Before people start looking for the lynch ropes, please hear me out. Those numbers that she has fronted in the past such as No Frontiers, Dimming of the Day ( and "her" Goodbye") have been vehicles suitable for "her voice". However, her voice is NOT a power instrument but a softer, quieter instrument more suited to folk and even some country crossover material. What, however, is the viability of an album in that mode.
Hence the question of the mix of numbers hence vocal v instrumental and as mentioned earlier the question of collaboration/duets with friends/family. The sheer question of getting a label to release the album brings these issues into focus.
I DO have confidence in Sharon's talents & judgement (moreso than Andrea's) and, with the right "mix"/people involved, would not be surprised if this may end up being "sneakily" successful.

Caro told me about Sharon´s plans last night and I had to smile a little for a couple of weeks ago we were discussing whether we´d ever get some Corrs related news again. And I remember some of us believing that once we expect it less, at least one of the Corrs will surprise us...I´m glad that we were right about that.
