Corrs for celebration as Andrea weds
RONAN MCGREEVY
Over 400 guests turned out today for the marriage of singer Andrea Corr and her husband Brett Desmond, son of the billionaire financier Dermot Desmond, in Co Clare today.
The wedding, which has been billed as one of Irish society’s wedding of the decade attracted luminaries from the world of music and sport to Saint Joseph’s Church Miltown Malbay.
Hundreds of locals ringed the picturesque hilltop church overlooking the Atlantic to catch a glimpse of the wedding party and guests as they arrived.
A fleet of white buses brought the early guests from the Doonbeg Golf and Spa resort where the reception will take place this evening.
Among them were the golfer Padraig Harrington and his wife Caroline, former Celtic managers Gordon Strachan and Martin O’Neill – Dermot Desmond is a major shareholder in Celtic – the comedian Patrick Kielty and MCD promoter Denis Desmond and his wife Caroline. Later businessman John Magnier arrived along with JP McManus and his wife Pat.
The father of the groom arrived with his wife 20 minutes before the ceremony was due to start and posed for photographs at the church gate.
While U2 lead singer Bono and his wife Ali turned up in a black Maserati at 2:35pm, five minutes after the scheduled start of the wedding.
However, the biggest cheer of the day was reserved for the bride who arrived at the church wearing a white strapless Vera Wang dress. She was greeted by her older sister Sharon who along with the other two bridesmaids, Caroline Corr and Zoe Desmond – sister of the groom – wore slate-grey bridesmaids dresses.
The reception will take place a 10 minute drive away at Doonbeg Golf and Spa resort later this evening.

Wombat's take on the wedding snaps.
(1) Andrea's money well spent on the dress; like her sisters before her she looks sensational.
(2) Have never got the "morning suit" look for weddings (though they are a big step up from the "monkey suit" (bow tie/dinner suit).
(3) Not 100% sure she did big sisters a big favour with the bridesmaids dresses, in one photo Shaz is cursing the narrow shoulder straps (ala TTF at LR).
(4)One of the few Cazz snaps for a while but it does indicate that the years are being very, very kind to ALL the Corr sisters.
