Ireland's most beaten-up big brother took time off from worrying about 9/11, Lisbon Treaty, Swine Flu vaccine & one world government to speak to the Dundalk Democrat regarding the band's future.
Dundalk's most famous musical family, the Corrs, are engaged in discussions on when to re-unite and start work on a new album.
Guitarist Jim told the Dundalk Democrat that the family ahd mover a step closer to getting back together again after a three year hiatus.
"It's a possibility. We are talking about it right now. It's always been on the cards. We've been toying around with the idea for a while now" said Jim.
" There's nothing definite yet but at some stage in the future we would like to do another album. I imagine if we do it, the album would be a progression."
"It will have our own sound characteristic. We don't want to just rehash what we've done in the past. We would like to bring the sound forward."
He added "I think it would be great to do an album. It's beeen a while since we've been in the studio. It would be good to get back to it."
"It's good fun touring but Caroline has three kids now and touring would be more difficult for her. She can't be away from them for long periods."
"We are just talking about whether or not we should do it at the moment. I think we will definitely do it; it's just a matter of when we should do it."
" I still write a bit and work with ideas. I've a small set up. We are all writing bits and pieces. We would just come together with those ideas for the album and work collaboratively."

This does not come as a surprise given the gradual re-emergence of the various family members. I have always thought that it was on the cards that they would play together in public again.
I DO NOT interpret Jim's comments along the lines that they will not tour again. How I read it, and have thought for a while, is that they will not return to being a 12 month/year entity with constant touring. What I would envisage is that they would:
1. Share the promotional work around so as there would be limited calls for all 4 to be on deck at the same time for promotion. Wherever possible, keep Caro's promotional work to Europe-based.
2. Wherever possible schedule touring around school holidays. To minimise family impacts, try not to be away for much longer than 2 weeks at a time.
Their days of seeking "world domination" are in the past & therefore they can be more relaxed about things. Whilst I can't see them attempting the States, it is plausible that they may see fit to play a handful of dates.
Indeed that is how I feel they may play things. One hopes the others have been tuning in to Shaz's MO & see the value to connecting directly to their fans. In many ways, even prior to a new album, they may do well to get out there & re-connect with the fans. Shaz can certainly vouch for it's value as it is likely to be a mutual "we've missed you so much & it's great to see/hear you again".
UK/Ire gigs (including the festivals if possible) would be a likely start with potential for a few dates on the Continent. Depending on timing/finance/feedback from early gigs; I could see potential for investigating old strongholds in S.E Asia & Australia. By this stage, Sharon may have actually braved & escaped from those adorable crazies in Brazil; I feel that serious investigation of the Latin American market would be worthwhile & more fruitful than attempting the US.
Have other thoughts which I will expand on later.

Maybe this is what always all "long-awaited Corrs fans" want from the very beginning, "A New Album". I can say it's probably a very good highlight to satisfy their fans, although they four are just still "thinking" about it, but at least we all (the fans) aren't made like walking in the dark tunnel and still can't see a little light in the end.
To be honest, just one brand new album with a set of new refreshing songs can make my day and I would go to my grave peacefully. Some talkings about the tours or maybe "thinking" about to interact with fans via some Internet media (Twitter, Facebooks, etc) can be a bonus, but I'm not holding my breath about it.
Some tours would be nice for them to get their musical image from their older fans back alive, or maybe can encourage and gain some new lurkers, but that's depend on their success on this project. And also of course the courtesy of the record company if they want to promote it well or not. Connect with the fans around the globe can be happen, but I'm being skeptical about it. Sure it can be done by some Corrs members (like Jim and Sharon), but I still have a doubt the other two will follow the campaign (their busy daily routines, their different personalities, etc), to be honest. Very good if they are, though.
All in all, I'm very excited to hear at least one or two of them are thinking about the "comeback", with the more serious manner. So to me, just one new fresh album (with full of number new tracks, of course) can freshen my thirst of their musical stuff, regradless if it would be come true or not. Tours or the rest can follow latter,IMO.

Ny, I was NOT argueing that they neded to get out on a massive tour before coming out with a new album but I feel they would do well to get their faces out there in the public eye with a few appearances before releasing a new album. If only to say "Hello, we're back" & to put their name back in the public consciousness rather than just emerging from the ether with a new album. Whilst Sharon's album will hopefully be given it's space to fight it's way; if a good invite comes along in the next 12 months ...
The question of record labels IS a good one. For better or worse, Andrea's commercial failure would not be a plus point for the labels. With Sharon's effort being self-financed to this point, the nature & level of their relationship remains unanswered. With many major labels being US based & conservative in outlook, Jim's various musings may not be advantageous to their cause.
This is not to say that the labels will necessarily stay away. The Corrs WERE a proven international act & a highly promoteable commodity; and we have the proof from their recent public appearances that the years have been extraordinarily kind to all three of the Corr sisters. If big brothr can actually "zip it", there may just be some interest.
Again, I do not beleive they will ever be a full-time 12mth/year going concern again. However, I can easily see them performing a certain amount of performing dates (which moreso than recording WAS their true strength as a band) with the potential for some touring mixed in. The end on end constant promotion & touring of the past ...... no way.
I would not expect all of the four to jump into the communication, fan engagement & Twitter addiction with the gay abandon of Sharon but I do think that they would have taken notice of HOW it has worked for her .... media bookings, feedback & moe importantly the ongoing loyalty & appreciation of their fan-base. Whilst I suspect one sibling may be more resistant, the other two could well dip their toes in the water to varying degrees. You only receive back what you put in.
Artistic issues, discuss a little later.

Found the following in the latest Hotpress. Interesting, if true. www.hotpress.com/The%20Corrs/news/The-Corrs-For-STC-Charity-Album/6243449.htmlThe Corrs For STC Charity Album 22 Feb 2010 The Corrs are among several Irish acts who will feature on Behind Closed Doors, an acoustic compilation album currently being put together by students of the Sound Training Centre in Temple Bar.
Other artists already confirmed for the album include Kila, Dave Geraghty, Juno Falls, Delorentos, Ollie Cole, Noise Control and Neosupervital.
Recording for the album is scheduled for this month and the album launch is set for late April/early May. Behind Closed Doors album is intended to raise funds for the ISPCC and is being coordinated and engineered by the students. It’s the natural successor to last year’s Sparks And Mind album released by the students in aid of Aware and which featured Bell X1, Lisa Hannigan, Damian Dempsey, Cowboy X and The Thrills among others. If this DOES come to fruition, this does indicate, at minimum, that the Corrs clearly DO intend to play/perform together again. I do confess to Tweeting Hellen Bach from the Bandaged/CIN project about Jim's comments regarding a return ..... and that a worthwhile cause/charity would most likely be an ideal vehicle for them to do so. Clearly, others have had similar thoughts. Undoubtedly, they are likely to use something out of their existing catalogue rather than anything new. Actually an acoustic recording will be a plus for them as this was the area that stood them apart from so many other acts; their capacity to shine vocally & instrumentally when all the production is stripped away. Will be interesting to see the lineup; hopefully it will be back to the sibs plus Anto & Keith (their definitive line-up) rather than the cacophany that John Hughes inflicted upon us during the BH tour.

I'm not so into acoustic music to be honest. I found they're too bland and the sound is almost the same. Need hearing more little electric instruments on Corrs songs. But glad, finally there's probably a chance we would see the the four of them back to the music scene.

Funny thing... I became a Corrs fan only in 2004. I've been waiting the vast majority of my life as a Corrs fan for them to record again. Then it gets announced by CW and I nearly missed it! This is such good news. At one point - this was before Sharon announced her solo album - I was all but convinced that it would never happen. This is a welcome development and I'll be very interested to find out what they will record. It's a start. I hope they'll become inspired by being together again in the studio. Nyoman, I know others of your opinion. People that I respect don't care much for the unplugged albums. I can't understand this, because I love 'em! I happen to enjoy their music either way, acoustic or electric. For example, I enjoy both versions of "Radio" - the In Blue and Unplugged versions. I'm looking forward to it. ;D

If we can take the lady's word as gospel, then it appears this was a "false lead". Shaz posted the following on her forum last night.
"I'm afraid there is no truth to that article, perhaps they are using one of our songs for that album but we've have not recorded anything new for it. S"

I've become very skeptical about some of what passes for journalism and, by now, I've trained myself to keep on an even keel and not believe everything I read. I'm so glad that Sharon and Gavin are communicating with the fans to debunk these rumours. Thanks for the post.

Yeah, it was only the fact that Hotpress (who is one outlet that has been historically very reliable) put this out that lead me to post this.
Still, it would not surprise to see a "charity program" as an outlet for the Corrs to re-emerge; either performing or recording a cover.

Latest words from big brother www.independent.ie/entertainment/music/jim-corr-i-hope-andrea-finds-happiness-2132739.htmlIrish Independent 10th April 2010 Saturday April 10 2010 Jim Corr found himself involved in Andrea Roche's split from husband PJ Mansfield recently, when bookies Paddy Power gave odds of 12/1 that the former Miss Ireland would re-unite with her former boyfriend. Which was news to Jim. He told The Diary: "It was a bit of a laugh. On a serious note, I do hope Andrea (below) is alright. Not that there has been a media storm, but I just hope she has been alright dealing with it.
"It will all blow over. I just hope she finds happiness." The Dundalk man is no stranger to media storms himself over his take on events such as 9/11 on www.jimcorr.com But it looks like Jim is letting his political views take a back seat for now as he concentrates on picking up his guitar and writing some new songs. He told The Diary: "My nature is to focus on one thing, which is music, my first love.
"I'm not letting go of my website but it can take a back seat for a while," said Jim, who was in the studio this week.

It's good to hear that Jim is going to focus on his "first love."
Jim should realize that his music with The Corrs has done a lot of good. Just look at the friends made around the world because of The Corrs. It's interesting to ponder the role of music in bridging political and social divisions, or at least getting people to see beyond them, which is perhaps more important. More often than not, this has been accomplished with music that has no overt political message. Music has helped people to view other nations beyond the mere abstract and instead as the homes of our FRIENDS. I find that politics tend to divide people whereas music has the potential to bring people together.
