A friend of mine and fellow Corrs fan (Rick T.) recently introduced me to a young acoustic folk/rock singer/songwriter here in California named Chelsea Williams (www.chelseawilliams.com) who is a third-generation musician with what I consider to be special talent, so I thought I would introduce her here at the Broken Bridge. She's still trying to make a name for herself and has taken it upon herself to play her music to passers by on the streets of the Los Angeles area shopping malls nearly every weekend.
One has to admire her determination. Chelsea plays and sings her heart out from sheer love of the music, and seems to remain ever-cheerful and undaunted, no matter how sparse the reaction from a crowd. Though she's far from being alone in that situation as far as street performers go, I'm so impressed with that charismatic buoyancy of spirit in addition to her very-evident musical talent.
Here are some performances that she gave at the Castoro Cellars winery, not too far from where I live:
Her own song, "Huckleberry Sky" (song introduced by John McEuen, founding member of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band):
"Tonight You Belong to Me"
"Lovesick Blues" (Hank Williams cover)
Most of the videos on YouTube are shot during her street performances. Here's a performance of "Here, There and Everywhere" caught during one of these.
According to this article HERE, Crosby, Stills, and Nash even sent Chelsea flowers in appreciation for the quality of her cover of "Helplessly, Hoping" they found on YouTube:
Another one of her original songs, "I Can See It Now":
"Follow Me Too"
I'll finish this lengthy post with a song called "Take My Hand":
A performance at the Troubadour in LA. "I Stole Your Boots" which was featured on an episode of Bones:
To date, she has two EP albums found at CDBaby (www.cdbaby.com/Artist/ChelseaWilliams).
