I like "I Never Loved You Anyway" a lot. It's visually appealing and there's a lot of little charming things in it - such as Andrea singing "come to think of it" and tapping her head with her tin whistle and how they switch instruments at the end. Sharon looks so cute strumming Jim's guitar. It might be my favourite. ;D Caroline, "the girl drummer" with her shorts and black socks looks so cool. Okay, that's a style that has passed, but I always thought Caroline looked lovely with those bangs.

I haven't watched the DVD for a long time, but as far as I remember, my favorites are WYBH and FNF.

What is really notable with this collection is the strong vein of tongue in cheek humour in many of the clips. Most notably:
INLYA: the first case in point with the mock instrument swapping in the outro
SY: the ultimate goodtime song and the clip mirrors this. Don't know if the director said to them "OK folks just go out there and crack up as much as u like" or he just gave up in the face of pure Irish family mania but it worked. Lets upstage Andrea seems the vibe and what is family for ...... Also the debut of another trademark; the Caro sideways look.
Runaway remix: a further reprise of instrument swapping
Breathless: the most overtly sexy clips with the girls most definitely vamping it up. Methinks that poor young man in the straw hat is still undergoing therapy !!! Again, the whole vibe is we really arent taking any of this seriously and Caro gives us that sideways look again.
ATLITW: Corrs give us their spin on America's Sweethearts (not sure Julia & Catherine Zeta would've appreciated the competition of the Divine Trio on set !!). Caro gives us Grand Theft Auto with the red Caddy, Jim reprises John Cusack's rooftop scene & Sharon Corr - romantic leading lady.
WYBH: the definitive "pisstake" of the collection with a more than subtle dig at the spin and image/branding prevalent in the industry ... hence the vapid googoo eyed expression of certain ladies when the spinmeisters are doing their sell. Love the rebranding as Heavy Metal, Thrash Punk, Rapper/DJ Jim and some v slinky RnB sistas. Appears they had a total hoot doing this one.
Certainly the earlier clips were less than high budget and none of the clips cut any "new ground" but they are entertaining and they sell the key product ie the song. When you have a key selling asset for this medium, namely three uberbabes and the glamour factor, you use it and in nearly all clips (exc the Unplugged) it is front and centre. However, we never have clips where the song is secondary focus. WCID is actually a clip where the girls are actually dressed down (jeans & T shirt rather than glamour). A certain lady of my acquantaince still gets major attacks of "the green eyed monster" when she sees this clip ........ she must have "that hat"!!

I enjoyed reading your observations there, Wombat! It makes me want to pop in the DVD and take it for a spin! Funny thing is that, though I (of corrs) HAD to have this video collection and finally got it (thank you, Canada!!), I much prefer watching the live concert DVDs instead. I think that is a reflection on their incredible ability to play and perform live. Such musicianship is what will give the Corrs staying-power (I'm hoping) long after the inevitable loss of 'the bloom of youth'. Having said that, you pointed out so many things that made these videos a delight!

We are very much on the same wavelength. If, as I suspect we do hear more from Dundalk's finest, their image will by necessity have evolved. The sisters, whilst still clearly very beautiful women, are older and in 2/3 cases mothers.
Realistically it doesn't matter because, unlike the mass-produced lip-syncing princesses who proliferate, the Corrs have musical legitimacy. Those who go to a Corrs concert may have had a reaction of XXXX those girls are hot at the start but you can bet their brick outhouse that they will leave with the music still buzzing in their head thinking that was a massive and jeez they can play.
Furthermore, their music still lives and gets airplay today in many parts of the world. Runaway reached No.2 in the UK charts but this song is recognised all over the world but just how many around the world (apart from similarly deranged Britney diehards) can really recall Hit Me Baby One More Time (the song that kept it from No.1). Pretty easy to pick which song has the staying power. Can prob make a case for a few others but this is the most obvious.
Back to the clips. The general light tone to most of them actually gives a strong hint as to the band's popularity. Whilst undoubtedly totally serious about their music, they come across as not being wound up in themselves but rather not taking themselves too seriously and consequently keeping it as real as possible. No doubt, the family aspect may have seen any incipient diva tendencies stomped upon very early.
