A nice article from corrsonline: Tin Whistles For Teachers By Hayley Carlin - 9th March 2005
Andrea has been out today to promote "Tin Whistles For Teachers" initiative. The program is set to introduce tin whistles into primary schools, and give children the opportunity to learn this instrument.
Andrea launched the Tin Whistles for Teachers campaign at The National Concert Hall with children from St. Pauls Senior Primary School, Greenhills today.
It's a great opportunity for schools, as the instument is easy to learn and children of all ages will gain alot of confidence and enjoyment from learning to play it.
I want to learn it fro Andrea toooooo! uah! No really, i think they should teach it here as well, shouldn't they?

No really, i think they should teach it here as well, shouldn't they? Totally agree with you there! You know, at the moment I´m doing all of this assistant teaching...and as you know I also spend a lot of time in the music lessons due to the fact that the teacher I work with is a music teacher...and I was honestly thinking about introducing the instrument to the kids...but at the moment they´re learning all about percussions (we had a great lesson yesterdays with bongos and kongas etc) and another class is learning how the e-bass works...so, no space for the tin whistle.

There'll be space! You know in the higher classes...11...or...12 we're going to learn about different music...like african Music, Irish, indian music and native american...and so on...I guess there'll be space...I'm already looking forward to it!!! Here in Germany I guess the only flute you can learn at school is the recorder...(flute??, my dictionary only says recorder...but that sounds strange???) i wonder if anybody is offering Bodhran lessons??? man that would be great!

i wonder if anybody is offering Bodhran lessons??? man that would be great! I guess here in Germany 99% of the people do not even know what a Bodhran is! I guess if you´d have a poll asking "What´s a bodhran?" most poeple will answer: "Um...um...not sure maybe it´s a disease or something..." *lol* But, yeah, it´d be great to take bodhran lessons!

Honestly, yes, I gotta atmid, before I knew the Corrs I also didn´t know what a bodhran is. But I got to know the Corrs when I was 12 years old, so that´s eight years ago...so hey, I know that instrument for quite a while now...*lol* But I never held one in my own hands...
