Mit ihrem Solo-Debüt Ten Feet High stellt sich ANDREA CORR am 15. Juni als Solokünstlerin vor! Und es wird für viele Fans eine Überraschung werden, denn die Sängerin aus dem irischen Familienunternehmen THE CORRS (vier Top-10 Alben in Deutschland und 30 Millionen verkaufte Tonträger weltweit zwischen 1998 und 2004) hat fast alle Songs auf dem Album selbst geschrieben. Ten Feet High zeigt eine große stilistische Spannbreite: Mal sehr poppig, mal mit leichten Folkanklängen, mal ganz lasziv und mal etwas kraftvoller.
Auf Ten Feet High zieht ANDREA CORR alle Register ihres Könnens. „Ich wollte ein Album voller Geschichten aufnehmen, in denen ich meiner Phantasie freien Lauf lassen konnte,“ so sagt ANDREA selbst über das Album.
Produziert hat das Album Nellee Hooper, der bereits mit U2, Gwen Stefani und Björk zusammen gearbeitet hat, als Executive Producer zeichnet niemand geringeres als U2-Legende Bono verantwortlich.
Die erste Single aus Ten Feet High heißt 24 Hours und erscheint am 8. Juni. Der Song ist ein perfekter Popsong, der versucht die Mysterien der Liebe zu greifen, und besitzt eine lockere und sagenhaft ohrgefällige Melodie mit einem hinreißenden Rhythmus. Ten Feet High sees Andrea's creative doors pushed open and discovers her gift for story-telling. And she does it with a marvellously versatile voice, which none has heard until now. The musical styles on Ten Feet High are immensely diverse and in each song, Andrea's showing the many facets of her personality, both the playful and the serious.
"For me music has always been more about the song itself than the singing," Andrea explains. "I love songs, which tell stories, like those from Neil Young or Simon & Garfunkel, which are taking you to completely different places. "So I wanted to record an album full of stories, in which I could let my fantasy take its own course", says Andrea about the album. "Complete unrestrained!".
All eleven Songs on the album - which have a big variety in styles than most other contemporary albums - were brought to life with the help from Andrea's piano. Some are light and pleasant from the very beginning and others are more dark.
The electric-like "Hello Boys", shows Andrea, who's known for her soft and gentle voice, as a seductive-dangerous cat with drawn claws. The song begins with the line "I know you are watching me / I think that I like it". The song's about a lady in a brothel, one of her kind, who only receives very special customers and is the most desirable woman in her job.
"Anybody There" is a groovy pop song, in which Andrea asks whether there is someone who will love her.
"Shame On You", is an exceptionally beautiful song full wonderful musical nuances, whose ease carries a very serious message: it concerns mobilization and war. It's a protest song by means of the prism of love.
"I Do" is a song as light as the air and as playful as a child and describes a fairy tale wedding.
"Champagne From A Straw" plays with the superficialnesses of life and aims at the not always completely problem-free ease of existance with an ironical touch of a Rumba and Mexican Mariachi trumpet-like instrument.
The single "24 Hours" is a perfect pop song, which tries to capture the mystery of love, and has an easy and euphonic melody with a ravishing rhythm.
There's also a cover on the album, which is quite radical: "Take Me I'm Yours" is a Squeeze-classic, which Andrea made her own.
The beautiful ballad "Ideal World" forms the conclusion of the album, the song is about an hopeless attempt to live a perfect life.

Yes, I agree, Scott! This German article was accurate in describing "Hello Boys", so I think it is going to be a reliable summary of what the album will be like.
I am very much anticipating hearing the whole thing and, in particular, I am excited to hear Andrea's piano playing. ;D

Thanks for posting this article, it´s very informative. But, did I miss out on something? "24 Hours" is gonna be the first single? Did they change that? I thought "Shame on you" was gonna be the first one?!

I am wondering what I will get when my order arrives *lol*, since I pre-ordered a CD called Ten Feet High whose title was switched with "Shame On You." Now the single is "24 Hours".  |

On the German sit of amazon you can also pre-order the first single and for them it´s still "Shame on you". I didn´t preorder it, though and I think, as it´s all still changing around, I´ll still wait a bit till I do so.

On the German sit of amazon you can also pre-order the first single and for them it´s still "Shame on you". I didn´t preorder it, though and I think, as it´s all still changing around, I´ll still wait a bit till I do so. Hehe. I remember waiting forever for the All the Way Home 2-disk DVD, so I preordered two TFH from CD Wow, but I'm still waiting on the single to official come out. Sounds like this is the cue.  |
