Have any of you ever heard of Eva Cassidy? She is one of the most talented singers I think that I have ever heard, but not too many people know about her. Sadly, she passed away from cancer in 1996 before she realized how much her music was loved. She became somewhat famous in the U.K. in the last few years, but she is still sadly ignored in her own country, the U.S.

Thanks, Cosita!! Nice remarks. Yes, I've seen that "virtual" duet; it's very moving, and it makes me happy that Katie Melua is so inspired by Eva that some of Eva's sensibilities go into Katie's music. Katie has called Eva her "absolute idol". Katie Melua started listening to Eva maybe about five years after Eva's death from cancer. Katie has said, "when I first heard Eva Cassidy's voice, I was so moved by the emotions she created with it, I knew that was what I wanted to do myself." The first song that Katie Melua wrote on the guitar ("Faraway Voice", I believe) was written right after she learned that Eva Cassidy had died.
