As far as I know she once talked about the fact that she wanted to go back to the roots a bit more but I am not sure. But what she says about the new album is that it´s autobiographical. So the first song starts out somewhere in her childhood and when you listened to all of her album you will eventually arrive in the present time. I sure hope that it´s not so much like 0304!!! But I totally believe that it will not be like that one anyway. The whole story behind it sounds pretty interesting. I have no idea how to get the album yet but I just need to put my hands on it.

Yes, I like the folk/pop Jewel more than the 0304 Jewel. I admire her versatility as a songwriter, from the softer "Foolish Games" to rock songs with "bite" like "Love Me Just Leave Me Alone." When Jewel came on the scene, she reinvigorated pop music and also inspired a lot of other artists with her thoughtful lyrics and forthright delivery. My theory is that Jewel did the 0304 album in part "with tongue in cheek," as they say in English, meaning it was done in part as a parody of the over-commercialized, over-provocative music scene currently prevalent in the U.S. This is clear in the video to "Intuition." This album also may have been an attempt (rooted in pressure from record execs?) to "reinvent" herself as Madonna does in order to appeal to a supposedly wider audience, but 0304 was Jewel's lowest selling album of her career. I am confident that she will be returning to her roots in folk/rock and I will be happy about that. Oh, and here's a second picture that I found last night:

I love Jewel! I have on of her books 'A Knight In Shining Armour', I believe it is called, it's very good!
I prefer Jewel when she was all 'folksy', she's too pop now.

The book´s called "A night without armor" It´s a collection of poetry. Her book "Chaising down the dawn" includes journal entries, entries primarily written for the books, pictures, poems and drawings. I can highly recommend both books!

Oh, hand on, I have 'Chasing Down The Dawn', not the other one, don't know why I put that one! 'CDTD' is a very good book, I can't believe she was nearly taken advantage of by a pedophile! That must have been scary for her!

Taking a look at the songs I am growing confidant that this CDs going to be good because Jewel kept her promise and recorded some of her old songs that she -so far- only performed live. Some of them even belong to my favorites, like "Stephenville, Tx" or "Last dance Rodeo" for instance. This is soooo nice. I also see a couple of new ones there. So it´s an album to look forward to! Ow, I can´t wait to have it! Ow. Yay, I am happy now.

Those of you who have had a chance to hear Goodbye Alice in Wonderland, what do you think of this album? I have listened to it quite a few times now, and I have formed an opinion (and I'll just say here that it's a very favorable one). But I'd first like to hear what the bigger Jewel-aholics think. ;D

Swantje told me about this site where you can watch a video of the title track, "Goodbye Alice In Wonderland": www.michaels-jewel.com/Video/musicvideo/AIWpremiere.html(broadband recommended)

I just LOVE this CD It is very good I play it while driving my car... Though now Marie Fredriksson's new cd is out... So that will be a "fight" over which cd to play hehehe.... But I did like 0304 too, it showed a an other side of Jewel, and it was good and catchy. I guess all artists try out different tunes while writing... You live, you learn....
