I have noticed that this forum for the last several months has become essentially a dialog between Wombat and me regarding news of Sharon and the Corrs. No one else is chiming in with any discussion, and it's beginning to give me the sense that the Corrs Fan Base has run its course. It seems that we have lost some of our valued members to the world of Facebook gaming and, more importantly, to the demands of life - school, work, etc.
Wombat and I can "talk the Corrs" over at Twitter if need be, so I see no sense in continuing with the Corrs Fan Base if the board continues to be as slow as it has been these past several months. I find it disappointing that it appears only a couple people are posting about unfolding events around Sharon's solo album. Personally, I have been facing some hard times with my work over the past year or so and it has been particularly tough the past few weeks. Right now, I'd be okay if people see fit to close down this forum after a 5+ year run.
If people have "moved on" from here, there are other Corrs fan forums to visit for those still interested, such as Corrs Online and the Corrs Club, if this one closes. I haven't made up my mind. We still average over 25+ visitors a day.

Have been getting a similar vibe myself & sadly my instinct sugests the inevitable. A number of us DO still have contacts via Twitter & to a point the other boards so hopefully some contacts can be retained. There IS some very interesting stuff & discussions buried on this board and it will be rather a shame to lose them.
Am happy to go along with your call on this.

No, no, no,no; Steve does not close this forum;Every morning I look at this forum to see the information of my favorite group,But as you say I have was taken by the other activities in my life, in the first one I have to change work, I have to resign from my previous work because my boss did not keep the promises which he had made for me (possible transfer on Dublin or Bayonne in Canada) and in whom I to wish, thus I have to find some work recently and I am to dedicate to this new work; In second my mom is seriously sick (cancer) since sometime and I am losing her and I made of my best to take care of her, thus excuse me for not acting on the forum at the moment but I have the head somewhere else; but I like this forum then I look every morning, but promised I shall soon intervene dices which I would have put of the order in my life. For the games of Facebook I go there a lot less recently, but me me connect all the same to have news of my friends who are far from me as you for example. And then the current event of our group to prefer goes to change very soon and it would be necessary it's a pity to lose a great forum on THE CORRS, thus PLEASE does not close this forum. I says to you in very soon my friends, I kiss you all. NANARD

Bernard, I'm really sorry to read about your mom and the troubles you had with having to find new work. I know you are not alone.
Actually, I have no plans of deleting the board. First of all, I still think of this as Swanny's board, not mine; I'm just a steward. But I wouldn't want her to delete it either, because there are a lot of good memories. Secondly, there is indeed a lot of good information and commentary and discussion at this board that I would never wish to delete. I value too much the contributions that have been made. At very least, if the board were to wind down and go quiet, it would remain as an internet artifact to record 2004 to present in the world of Corrs fans. I believe that the music of the Corrs is the kind that will find followers and fans many years into the future.
Thanks for your thoughts.

Well !!! SOMEONE has been lurking round here lately .... and we have actually now heard from "officialdom" !
A Tweet from Gav "Also, just read CorrsFanBase thinking of winding down because everyone using other socnets. DON'T! I love that site. Gives grt perspective.." Even my "She Who Must Be Obeyed" captions for "Da Missus" ??
Seriously though, it is saying something about Gav's (and Sharon's for that matter) commitment to not only communicate with us but more importantly to REALLY get a handle on the netbase's opinions & seek legitimate feedback. For that, I salute them with the deepest sincerity.

Wow! Those are very kind and encouraging words from Gavin! Thank you, Gavin! It's hard to feel like throwing in the towel after such supportive words for our forum... and with an album on the way, too. Wombat, I too salute Gavin and Sharon. Nanard, thanks my friend for your kind words, too. Nice dream you share! I'll continue to hope and pray for the best for your mom.

This forum is stalling much of late, and I've taken more of an attitude of "Que sera, sera'. It's probably true that fan forums of this type seemed have lost popularity as other forms of social networking have arisen such as Facebook (and those silly addictive games), Twitter, YouTube, etc. The other thing is that our members are busier than ever in their personal lives. Another thing about the Corrs Fan Base that bothers me is that, out of every 10 persons who sign up at this board, 9 of them never end up posting a single thing. I wish that it weren't that way. Perhaps the registration process is so complicated that it tends to turn people away. But it has to be that way, otherwise this would turn into the Corrs Spam Base. It may stall at times but it's here if any fan wants to discuss anything about the Corrs, their past and their future.

Just the other day, Gavin Tweeted something about checking this board out... so, as was posted earlier, there are other lurkers!

Sometimes one has to face the facts. I would have wanted to keep this going, but it became obvious to me toward the end of last year that we have lost our participants.
I'm still a big fan - but it takes more than one or two members to make something like this work. When this board started in 2004, our members were in different stages in their lives, the Corrs were still a touring band, and it was before the arrival of social sites. It's been nearly six years since the Corrs last performed together. The arrival of MySpace, Facebook and Twitter slowly killed off the concept of a "forum". I'm sad about it. We had a lot of fun here and the Corrs Fan Base, I suppose, will become an "internet artifact" to those good times we shared.

Hi I've just registered for the site and having seen this am obviously a little disappointed but have to say I can understand how you feel, sometimes it can be very hard to keep a forum going and keep it current when the topic is so specific. I would be disappointed to see another Corrs site fall by the way side and would like to see it going till the end of the year at least, is there an accompanying facebook page as this could keep members coming? Andy, thanks for your post. It's good to have you here.
We still seem to have people who visit but few who post, and that is what a forum needs to survive. I feel that it wasn't my decision to shut down the board; I simply made the decision to let go of the responsibility of keeping it alive and simply let it continue based on real fan enthusiasm or screech to a halt from lack of interest.
But, no, there is no accompanying Facebook page, since this forum was designed strictly as a forum for Corrs Fans to have thoughtful - and sometimes funny - discussions. I don't feel that Facebook lends itself to that purpose because it is a massive marketplace of many topics and a place to connect with all kinds of people. This is a place for fans of the Corrs. But we HAVE ended up as friends based on this common interest.
You're very welcome to post, Andy, and I'm happy to have you here.
