I have transcribed Andrea's bio on the site since you can't copy & paste it.
Lily(Andrea Corr)
Beautiful and talented Andrea Corr, the youngest of the Corr siblings and the lead singer with the smash hit band The Corrs, plays the mysterious Lily, the ever present link in this spritual story.
Andrea has harboured desires to be an actress since she was a child. Long before the band became a legend in its own lifetime, she had dreamed of treading the boards.
Fate intervened at the age of 15 when she and her sisters and brother attended their first audition, and the rest as they say is history. It was for musical parts in the film the Commitments, which detailed the story of the famous local band of the same name. In the end only Andrea received a speaking role, but it was enough to fire her enthusiasm and change the future of the band forever, when thy were signed by John Hughes who became their manager.
Several years later, in another fleeting appearance in a major film, she was wanted strictly for a singing role-it was the musicial Evita, in which she played Juan Peron's mistress, who is abruptly displaced by Madonna's title character.
It is rumoured that the Corrs have sold somewhere in the region of 30 million albums, and together with worldwide concert appearances and recording sessions there was little time for Andrea to pursue her dream of becoming an actress, until the lead role of Anne in "The Boys And Girl From County Clare" came along, some three years ago.
'Acting is what I wanted to do from a very early age, but whenj the band took off there was never time. But I was always searching for that film role. Sadly most of the time I had to turn them down, but eventually when this role of Lily came along it just seemed that the time was right. The family were bsy doing there own thing, and i was free to accept the role," says Andrea happily.
Andrea plays the mysterious role of Lily. Andrea says: "I loved the script, I got it immediately, and I completely understood the role. it was smaller then, and Lily had very little dialog. But that wasn't importnat to me: what mattered was the mystery that surround her."
With each meeting with the director Mahesh Mathai the part grew and grew. Andrea explains: "When I first met Mahesh, I liked him immediately. What I didn't find out until later was that he had very recently lost his mother. Our meetings were hugely enjoyable but I noticed for a long while he never looked at me when we spoke. I tend to look people straight in the eye when they are speaking, and I did find it rather odd. However, we carried on talking about Lily, and each time I read another draft, I noticed the role was growing," she smiles.
"The Thread", a psychological thriller has very strong supernatural aspects. Andrea was particularly interested in this, and says: "That is a very strong part of what drew me into it. I am fascinated by the here, and the afterlife, and in between. Also in a sense of fate and destiny, all that stuff intrigues me. There is also a strong mpral to this story-you cannot escape the process of grieving, or the pain you go through. There is no easy way out of it and ultimately you have to face it; there will always be a day of reckoning. it happens to all of us.." she says wistfully.
Andrea, remembering her long, strange conversations with mahesh, says: " As I said before, when I met Mahesh his mother had only died a month before. Once i discovered that i realised that was probably why he wasn't looking. I know from personal experience what that whole time when your mum dies is like, things are so blurry. i said to him once, and this was the moment we really connected. I didn't need a whole heep of discussion on the role, I really understood it, but I thought about it and I thought about his mum, and I just saw this man, with his script beside him and all the pain that he had...All i feel since my mum died is that I am blessed, that there are always blessings and I feel really looked after. And I thought to myself, at the risk of sounding like a lunatic, or of never seeing him again, I am going to say it anyway. 'I believe that what you do now, and you have this film, this story you feel passionate about-I really feel it will be blessed, your mother will bless it.' And he looked at me then. At that moment i knew i had to do the film, and I felt like we had touched each other's lives."
Andrea is now busy recording a solo album.
