hey, has anybody of you seen this film? I saw it for the first time...ahm...1 hour ago. It's a great film! a french production, the German title is "Die Kinder des Monsieur Mathieu". Monsieur Mathieu Pére Maxence The movie is about a teacher (film takes place in 1949), actually a musician but nobody recognized him and his music that's why he started to teach. Well, and the teacher, Monsieur Mathieu, starts a new job at a school for children who are very difficult. really difficult. Well, and he's the first teacher who's the first teacher that listens to them...so he gets along with the kids. gut he only achieved this by forming a choir. all of the kids like the music. They sing and then there's this boy, Pére, who has a great voice and is the most talented kid of all. But the head-teacher of the school is really mean and causes problems...for the teacher...and the kids. I'm not going to tell you how the movie ends, you have to see yourself because this movie is really worth it. The music is faaaaantastic! Calm but great!

This movie sounds really fantastic. I´d love to see it. Your description of it reminds me of the movie "Dead Poets Society" which I really love. It´s probably worth seeing this one too.

Thank you for telling us about this film, Caro! I'll be sure to look for this film. I found out that the U.S. title of this film is The Chorus, and in other English speaking countries, The Choir. I'll keep an eye out for it. I did find a website for this film HERE. It's in French though! Internet Movie Data Base (IMDB) entry HERE.

This movie was the most popular in France last year. I've seen it but not as enthousiastic as other people. (it's good, but not fantastic I think) The children were invited too many times in every show and you become a little bit fed up hearing them sing.

Well, I liked the music very much, but i understand that you got fed up by listening to them, when they were at every TV show. But I think for someone who likes music this film is a nice experience.

I found this movie! ;D at the rental store last night and I watched it (with Sumo, but somebody's spirit was in my pocket, hehe ) and I enjoyed it. Great film! And I like how they chose to tell it in terms of chronology. Wow! It shows what a great impact a good teacher can have, but (thinking of the future teachers we have here at the Corrs Fan Base) it's not without its risks! Very good film. Thanks for telling me about it, Caro!
