Hi all, I live in Reunion Island, which is in Indian Ocean, near Madagascar. Since a month, there's an eruption of the volcano "La fournaise" ("The Blaze")!!! Here are some photographies taken by Ludovic Lai-Yu and François Martel-Asselin. I'll try to post more (as soon as my scanner is agree with that ) Enjoy, Simone

Ow wow!! THANKS, Simone! I hope you don't live too close! As happens in nature, sometimes some of the most dangerous things can also be very beautiful. Those are amazing!

Don't worry Steve... I'm not so close... but some of the schools and people who lived close have been evacuated because of the smoke!!! Here is a map of the island : Thank God, I live in Saint-Paul, which is at the opposite of the eruption All the best, Cosita

Wow... Those are awesome pics, Simone!!! Thank you for sharing with us.. I remember, a couple years ago, I was on a cruise, in Hawaii... & one evening, as we sailed past the big island of Hawaii, we saw, at some distance, the lava flow from Kiluwea as it came down the mountain, and hit the ocean... It lit the sky... One of the most awesome sights I've ever seen!!! I'll never forget that... You could smell the lava in the air too, kind of like, camp fire... ;D Thanks again... You must live in a fantastic area?!!!

Cosita , thanks for posting the map! I'm glad to know you're on the SAFE side of the island! It certainly looks like a very interesting place in which you live.

Those really DO look fascinating, wow. Steve is right...there often is a weird beauty and force of attraction to those things dangerous.

Yeah.. you're all right... it's a great area to live , and I still discover some unknown places We have great mountains... so if you like to hike or camp... come and see us... and oh... beautiful beaches and lagoons... so take your surfboard too (Kelly Slater knows a place for surfing)!!! I'll post some new photos of the volcano (the awake one because we have a sleepy one too "Le Piton des Neiges") Sleep well, Simone
