I can´t believe that we haven´t started a Sasha thread before, but as I was at a concert of him last Monday I thought I´d just open a thread for him.
The concert was great. He´s such a fantastic entertainer, really funny and he knows absolutely how to create an atmosphere.
The tour is called "Greates Hits Tour" just as his latest album.
He has reinvented (I couldn´t find a suitable word for what he did
) his old songs and now you only recognise them by the lyrics. It´s fantastic.
Ok, as an info for everyone who doesn´t know him that well:
when Sasha became famous in Germany he was one of these typical pop singers. He could have easily been part of a boyband. The littel girls loved him.
But now he´s changed.
Sasha is a musician who does what he likes no matter if it´s "in" or not, seen in a musical way.
Over the last few years he has done very different projects and he was very successful with all of them.
After the popsongs he and his band toured the country as "Dick Brave and the backbeats". That was fantastic. They pretended to be Canadian musicians of the Rock´n Roll era, just like the real Dick Brave and his band. Sasha and his band kept on talking a mixture of German and English with a Canadian accent when they had a concert and it was great fun. They really acted as if they were Dick Brave and the Backbeats. The album the released with this project was a great success. They covered some great songs such as Pink´s "Get the party started" and "Take good care of my baby" and released them in a Rock´n Roll - Petty Coat - 50´s style.
Now that Dick Brave is back in Canada Sasha has released 2 new albums. Last summer "Open Water" was released and again his music had a new style. The new songs are more like rock and there´s more instruments on the album than before. He has a great band and Sasha himself also plays the guitar now. The new style is just fantastic and everyone keeps on saying that his development is wonderful. A short time before Christmas he released a Greates Hits album. It contains all the songs that have been released as a single during his entire career (except the Dick Brave ones) and on the secong cd of the album he has reinvented some of his singles and released them in a new style. They are like rock songs now and they can only be recognised by the lyrics. They are better than ever and once again the albums are a huge success.
However, the concert was fantastic and I´m sure that it won´t have been the last one I went to.
