Something that is very fun for me is to identify and tell other people about music artists whose music I feel is very worthy of interest. Here's a musician that I think is very talented. He is working on a first solo album right now. Bertolf LentinkMy friend Cynthia sent me Ilse De Lange's Live CD for my birthday. On this CD, there is a fantastic cover of America's " Sister Golden Hair" featuring lead vocals by a talented Dutch musician Bertolf Lentink of Zwolle, NL. His voice often bears an uncanny resemblance to that of Paul McCartney. In fact, Bertolf had a chance to show his respect for the Beatles by performing in a Beatles cover band called Her Majesty, performing the Abbey Road album in full. If you go into the "media" section of the website for Her Majesty ( www.hermajesty.nl/media/audio/), you can hear some great vocals. He sings John's lead on "Come Together"; Paul's lead on "I Want You" and "Golden Slumbers"; and George's lead on "Something." I thought it was quite incredible, especially GS. There is a poor quality YouTube of the end medley of Abbey Road HERE. Prior to working with Ilse, he was a co-founder of a very talented band called The Junes. There are some great tracks at the MySpace site of The Junes, including a cover of John Lennon's song, "Grow Old With Me." Also great are "She's My World" and "For Life". Here's a YouTube of The Junes: ie.youtube.com/watch?v=q7_DXJd4YiYThe Junes are no longer an active band. Bertolf Lentink also has been a part of a Western Swing band called Panhandle Swing where he played Hawaiian guitar, guitar, etc. You can hear his vocals on "Faded Love" and "You're from Texas" . Here's a song that he sang while touring with Ilse called " So Much Stronger." Hyves page: bertolf.hyves.nl/MySpace page: www.myspace.com/bertolf

Continuing with my enthusiasm for Bertolf, I just came across this self-made YouTube of "Martha My Dear", the great McCartney track from the Beatles' White Album: ie.youtube.com/watch?v=HtFvQPkao0oHQ VersionHe can certainly play AND sing! Bertolf has the first new single from his debut album at MySpace now. The single is called "Another Day"... perhaps another sign of his esteem of McCartney who had a great Wings song with the same name.

Bertolf will be opening for Amy McDonald in at a sold-out Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam tomorrow, Tuesday, 11 November, 2008. Link HERE. Searching around on YouTube, I found another performance he did with another band from his area (i.e. Zwolle, NL) called Muppetstuf. The name of the song is "Monogamy (Is On Its Way Out)": ie.youtube.com/watch?v=xjdiWev2R3sBetter Quality

The tracklist for Bertolf's upcoming album For Life is now out: 01. Back Of Her Head 02. Another Day 03. Feel You 04. All In The Letter 05. For Life 06. The Way I Love You Now 07. Not Bringing Me Down 08. Monogamy (Is On It's Way Out) 09. Broken Beyond Repair 10. Mr. Light 11. Don't Wanna Lose You Yet 12. Home The album will be released on 9 January, 2009. I've been following the progress of this debut album, because I hear in the music of this Dutch musician so many of the elements of the music that I grew up with and loved: good melodies and harmonies. But also I hear some similarities to current groups that I like now - such as Coldplay. At the moment, you can sample some of the tracks at this site here: www.3fm.nl/page/3fm08_bertolf_forlifeBe sure to listen to "Monogamy" and "Mr. Light". "Monogamy" sounds like a tune from an album by the Eagles. "Mr. Light" reminds me of a synthesis of John Lennon, Jeff Lynne... and maybe a little Freddie Mercury at the end. Bertolf's website is under construction right now, but it will be bertolf.comYou can also hear a live performance of his first single "Another Day" at this list here, (if you advance to about 2 hours, 47 minutes). ANOTHER DAY How many days could It take your life to finally start, now Before you get the sign to go Well, get up on your feet and just work the plough You will always regret if you don’t do it now Maybe you can do something You didn’t even know
/Chorus So don’t wait for the world, love To be pushing you down now You know that this chance it may, just slip away Don’t wait for the world, love Cause the’ve got their feet up Don’t ever let them take your words to say No, don’t leave it to another day Chorus\
And if you just wait For somebody who will come and try to save, you Nothing will ever get done Maybe it feels like something that you’re not up to But baby, well i think it’s all up to you Don’t let it be someting You’ve never begun
/Chorus So don’t wait for the world, love To be pushing you down now You know that this chance it may, just slip away Don’t wait for the world, love Cause the’ve got their feet up Don’t ever let them take your words to say No, don’t leave it to another day Chorus\
/Bridge You’re all tied to your seat and why Do you hold on to nothing when you need the inside out I would really hate to see you trying to take the wrong way And you wil never ever get to that other place If you always just allows yourself to waste your days away Don’t be pushed around by things you can’t explain Bridge\
/Chorus So don’t wait for the world, love To be pushing you down now You know that this chance it may, just slip away Don’t wait for the world, love Cause the’ve got their feet up Don’t ever let them take your words to say No, don’t leave it to another day Chorus\
No don’t leave it to another day No don’t leave it, no don’t leave it, no don’t leave it to another day To another day, to another day, to another day, to another day, To another day, to another day, to another day, to another day, Please don’t leave it

I have continued to post here without responses, mainly because I figured that other people not of this board might find this thread through Google searches and thereby discover some excellent music.
