Sharon has left the following Twitter message "Yes guys, this is me! And I have just spent the last two days in London doing a photo shoot for the single, album, website, you name it." Excellent news! I don't pay much attention to Twitter, so thanks for passing that along. I suppose that means, however, that it will be a while longer for the album to be released since, after the photoshoot, they will still have to print all the CD material. Still, it's getting exciting. ;D

The Twitter message was mentioned on other sites so was merely passing on. Did, however, dig up something interesting. Her team appear to be leaving no stones unturned when it comes to "underground" promotion. A Sharon Corr channel has been opened up on Youtube and it carries the link to her site quoting itself as "Sharon Corr's official Youtube channel". Her RTE TV interview has been posted. www.youtube.com/user/SharonCorrOfficialProbably a smart move given that we don't know which label is releasing her album.

A little further news. Some folk on COL have caught up with "herself" on Twitter and got the following response:
"Oh, I know who you are! Keep your eyes on the website for more info. and exclusive backstage footage from IOW. Thanks 4 all your effort. S."
Beyond this, maybe one can read a little more into Sharon's communications so far. Clearly she and/or her team have an appreciation for the net fanbase; not only for their enthusiasm but also as a communications means. She has onviously tracked many of the fanboards over recent years and no doubt it has been an encouragement factor for her to proceed. Like her Twitter profile "Musician, Violinist, Corr"
Clearly she has not forgotten the lessons from the band days; namely that you need to go out and do the hard "selling" work yourself. Again, the parallel has to be drawn with Andrea. She had a major label behind her who DID release her album in a number of markets but where was her effort to promote ?? Some contractual obligatory Irish/UK media appearances. The tools were put in place (website, Bebo) to engage the fanbase but where was her engagement ??
Record labels can facilitate but it is the artist themselves who need to "close the sale". From the evidence so far, this project seems very Sharon propelled whereas Andrea had the push of a major label. Don't think baby sis would like to read the scorecard so far but, given she has an interest in launching a 2nd solo album, one hopes she extracts herself out of her cocoon of "poor little me/I was mistreated'" and learns something from her big sister.
