Mr Bonnar's prime source of grey hair had "taunted" us about a month ago abt a "big name collboration" but many of us thought the "Fiarytale of New York" was it. Not so !!
Herself posted the following on her forum
"The legend that is Jeff Beck just played on a track on my album! To say I died and went to heaven would be an understatement! And there's more exciting news to come! Happy New Year! All my love, always, Sharon xxx"
Very interesting !! Certainly a guitar legend ... an occaisionally erratic one but definitely a master. How DID this come to pass ? Shaz DID Tweet that she went to see Jeff in Dublin earlier in the year. Interestingly she was NOT escorted by her resident legal eagle but another male associate who posted the following snap with the caption "Sharon's new trio". Did he know something ?
Definitely a coup snagging someone of Beck's stature for such a project. Maybe it says something about HER reputation as a musician and/or a person. Quite possibly both given (1) this is a self-funded non label backed project AND (2) her list of other collaborators/contributors where so many have gone way beyond contractual obligations to support her. (take a look at the MAMTB credits as an example ... not just the lads but also Fiachra & the IFO as well)
Speaking of our favourite downtrodden husband, it appears he had a sharp interface with his own mortality a few days back. Whilst at holidays in the Canary Islands, he attempted to rescue some teenagers in the surf & nearly became a statistic himself !! Whilst Herself was apparently very proud of him, he was instructed in no uncertain terms to retire the Superhero cape immediately !!
Whilst still on matters Bonnar, I did Tweet a mock suggestion that we start a poll with the question "Is @gavin_bonnar the most downtrodden & mistreated husband in Ireland ?" . To which he has replied .... in the affirmative !!

I'm thankful that he's okay and that he has promised to be more careful in the future for the sake of his wife and children. As he put it: "think I'll lie by pool manana!"
