Don't get me wrong, Andrea is the greatest lead vocalist! But being very fond of Sharon's vocals, I am excited to know that she comes forward to sing lead vocals on "Dimming of the Day" (a sample of which can be heard at COW). It sounds very lovely. And don't get me wrong again, Andrea is the greatest lead vocalist! But Andrea here proves what a great backing vocalist she is... just as in the song "Miracle." I just can't want to get "Home"!!

Andrea sung backup on Miracle? Actually, Scott, I cannot say that I am completely sure of this, but I have listened to this song really carefully and I think so. I may be wrong. I wish I knew the full story on this song.

At least we got this straight, lol Just kidding. Sharon is so wonderful on this track-she brought tears to me eyes. This song is one of my top 5 favs on the album ;D Haha! To make Andypandy's Top 5 from Home is quite an accomplishment for Sharon! *lol* ;D ;D I guess that Sharon used to sing this song while she and Jim were working together in the early days. She does a phenomenal job. I was listening to it again at work today and it gave the chills again! Yes, Andrea is THE greatest lead singer, but it is nice to hear from Sharon, and I'd also like to hear Caroline do a solo in the future!

Not as a "kid." More as a late teen, I think, not long after the time that Jim was doing his gigs apart from his sisters. I can't remember where I read this. Oh, yes! I think it was on the Japanese-language insert that came with the Japanese edition of Home. Apparently some copies have some little comments about each of the songs by different Cors. A Japanese CorrBoarder (Marut?) translated the comment that he had from Jim and posted it about a week ago. Sharon has been singing "Dimming of the Day" for a long time.
HERE'S WHAT MARUT WROTE:
The Japanese version has three special features
1. Bonus track ("Return to Fingall") 2. Win an original tin whistle (6 out of 200 have members' autograph). 3. Short comments for each tracks by one member
Mine was Jim's. It's okay, but I prefer Sharon or Andrea As I posted some threads below, Japanese Home has short comments on each tracks made by one member. Mine was Jim's. Some of them are already known by Corrboarders. I'm curious about Peggy Gordon, Dimming of the Day, and Return to Fingall.
3. PEGGY GORDON This is beautiful but sad song. Some mature Irish men are still bachelors because of their unforgettable girls. The man in this song has been dumped by Peggy Gordon when he was young and he still loves her. He's finally an alcoholic. Members like the Irish tunes with sad lyrics and exciting rhythm. (Is Jim bachelor coz he also has unforgettable girl???)
10. DIMMING OF THE DAY Sharon and Jim used to perform this song on the street to make money for the band. The name of the duo was “Jim & Sharon.”
13. RETURN TO FINGALL Jim, Andrea and Gerry played "Return to Fingall" one Christmas night some years ago in their house Dundalk while Sharon and Caroline spent with their families.

Kylie, have you had a chance to hear "Dimming of the Day"? I enjoyed her performance on "No Frontiers," but DOTD took my appreciation for Sharon's vocals to a new level!

A little bit of the history.
Sharon & Jim DID perform together as a duo in her late teens; not so much "as buskers" but more as a "pub act" with somewhat of a folk/pop mix. Dimming of the Day AND No Frontiers are certainly "old friends" of Sharon's dating back to these "old times".
