Andrea in the new short film "The Bridge"
Andrea keeping new film under the bridge
By Hayley Carlin - 20th March 2005
About a week ago, we received intel that Andrea had recently made a short film. The film she had been working on, titled, "The Bridge", had been in production during March 2005. As far as we knew, Andrea was the main star, and there was a film wrap party to be held Friday 18th March.
The film tells the story of a young woman, Mary, who was recently dismissed from her job as a hospital psychologist, following a patients suicide. Mary then meets an old man who has given up on his life after the death of his wife. She feels connected to this man and though her own fears and failures, reaches him in time and saves his life.
The party was hosted in Floridita and Meza bar and restaurant, on Wardour Street, London. It was an exclusive event, and guests were treated to live entertainment from a Cuban hip hop band "Triangulo Oscuro", and a short dance act from "The IT Girls". The films behind the scenes footage was shown on repeat all evening via a large projection screen, followed by a series of Nissan advertisements, the films sponsor. There were also a few large stills of the movie on display.
Sadly, Andrea did not show up for the event. At about 12:30 am, the films director, Richard Raymond, took the stage to give a small speech. He thanked everyone for attending, and for the support received. He thanked a few co-workers individually and then he held up one of the huge pictures of Andrea, and said, "Thanks to Andrea Corr, who unfortunately couldn't be here tonight."
"The Bridge" runs for approximately 17 minutes and was filmed at Shepperton Film Studios during March 2005. Based on an original screenplay by Ludwig Shammasian, British film director Richard Raymond brings this thrilling and dark short tale to life. The film will be shown at this years Cannes Film Festival, which begins on May 11th this year.
