C.O.W. Confirms Tracklist for "HOME"

It is being reported unofficially at an Italian fan site for the Corrs (here) that the tracklist for the upcoming album for the Corrs will likely be:

• Spancill Hill (5:09)
• Peggy Gordon (4:26)
• Black Is The Colour (3:49)
• Heart Like A Wheel (3:53)
• Buachaill ón Éirne (3:15)
• Old Hag (3:44)
• Moorlough Shore (4:17)
• Old Town (3:47)
• Dimming Of The Day (2:57)
• Bríd Óg Ní Mháille (3:39)
• Haste To The Wedding (2:27)
• Return to Fingal

Again, this is not an official report.

This would appear to indicate that the Corrs are releasing two songs that we already know: "Old Town" and "Haste To The Wedding." However, up until now, these tracks have only appeared as acoustic versions. "Old Town" appeared on the Unplugged CD and "Haste to the Wedding" appeared on the bonus CD version of In Blue. The version of "Old Town" would have to be this time more in the original "electric" style of the Irish rock group, Thin Lizzy. It seems possible that some songs (those with Gaelic titles) might be sung in Gaelic, but it may be also possible that these tracks will be instrumentals. It has not been decided which will be the first single to be released from the album.

It is now OFFICIAL! The new album indeed will be called Home.

The announcement of the title and tracklist of the Home CD appears on the Corrs Official Website HERE.

One year after their last studio album, The Corrs are returning full circle with their latest album Home, to be released by Atlantic Records on September 26th.

As the title suggests, The Corrs are back to fond beginnings, defining a journey that began 15 years ago. It is a record that is held close to the bands’ hearts, compiled through a songbook of the late Jean Corr, and brought to life by the bands’ urge to bring new interpretations to traditional Irish songs.

It was Caroline Corr who first suggested a return to traditional form, since "everywhere we go in the world we are asked to do more Irish music." Featuring the BBC Radio 2 Concert Orchestra and working with orchestral arranger Fiachra Trench and producer Mitchell Froom, who has worked with The Corrs on three previous albums, the band set out to create an eclectic mixture of songs and instrumental airs.

Recorded over six months, the making of the album became a journey in uniting both old and new. Traditional Irish songs were carefully chosen, and set to new arrangements, whilst remaining true and faithful to the core emotion of the originals. The mixture of traditional and contemporary, is one that is truly celebrated throughout Home. Whereas the predominately Irish songs are interpreted in a contemporary way, other songs such as "Heart Like A Wheel," originally written by Anna McGarrigle, remain strongly Irish in sound and spirit. This spirit shines through in tracks such as "Buachaill ón Éirne" which is one of two tracks sung in Gaelic; a true testament to the integrity of this album, and its desire to bring together Ireland’s past, present and future.

We (Caro and Swantje) just HAVE to say that it´d be waaaaay fantastic if JIM would sing "Spancil Hill", wouln´d it? From what we heard from the sample above (Thanx Steve) we think that Andrea´s voice or lets better say way of singing would not fit the song like Jim´s voice would. Hihi....but we´ll see...*wanna have the album* *waaaaannaaaa haaaave*

Now here´s something else that Caro and I have been thinking about when reading the tracklist. What happens when those Gaelic songs turn out to be like really good or even become some of our favorite Corrs songs?! `Cause we won´t even be able to pronounce the titles correct!
