It's great that they've done so well in Ireland. They'll get a lot of scrutiny there because it's a traditional album. It's commercial success there will be a great affirmation for them!! I'm sure they're very proud. ;D

The Corrs Official Website has posted the following message in reponse to their #1 position in Ireland: Last week the band’s new album shot straight into the number two spot in the Irish Album Charts and this week we are delighted to announce that it has now claimed the number one slot. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone out there, both home and away, for buying the album and making it such a huge success. Thanks guys!!!And for this week Home is currently the #28 in the WORLD, according to the United World Chart. Home is #8 in France and #23 in the UK at the moment. I think these numbers are great for this particular album.

I'm sure they're very proud. ;D Yes, so right, a great affirmation! And it must be especially sweet after some really outrageous negative reviews by some idiotic Irish music critics. But, come to think of it, do the Corrs really read these reviews? And when one considers that Home has made it to #28 on the WORLD CHARTS without any release in the United States, it really puts in context the phenomenal early success that this album is enjoying! I really hope that the success continues and that, somewhere in the ivory towers of Atlantic Records U.S., some naysaying executives are walking around with sweaty armpits and feeling like complete jackasses!

And for this week Home is currently the #28 in the WORLD, according to the United World Chart. Home is STILL in the Top 40 albums (#38) in the entire WORLD this week. I think that this is really a strong showing for an album that was not made with massive "pop" appeal in mind, and has had limited promotion. It is also an amazing accomplishment, especially when one considers that the album has the great disadvantage of not being released in the United States!

hey steve? who was on #1 in this "World chartlist"? You can look by clicking the link (that I posted above) to United World Chart but, to answer your question, the number one album in the world is a brand new album called Natural by a Japanese group Orange Range. Incidentally, this is another one of the albums that is not released in the U.S. Doing well in Japan obviously helps a lot!
