As the "real" winner of the Ms Twitter Europe contest, Sharon has progressed on to the Ms Twitter Global contest against the Top 20 placegetters in each of the continental competitions. The Global Top 20 will make it to the Twitter Hall of Fame. tweeterwall.mallplace.com/tw/worldwide/ultimate-world-ms-twitterCan we win it ?? Frankly ..no. The vote totals in the Americas competition esp from the top couple of entrants was massive ... and we can't compete against that. A Top 10 at least IS highly plausible. This competition runs for 2 weeks and it is likely that some entrants with enthusiastic "adolescent" fanbases are likely to run out of momentum once they see they can't win ..... and we are likely to pick them off if we can keep to our play of steady momentum and our bonus of being able to add votes around the clock. Should we have any Sharon announcements/performances/appearances during this period, then that should serve as extra impetus. Do remember to vote for our other team-members, Mia & Mrs Fry when voting for Sharon. We want them to finish in the Top 20, minimum, and they could possibly ride our coat-tails to a surprisingly high finsih. If some last minute cheating hadn't occured in Europe, they would have finished 2nd & 3rd. In the ongoing Global Solo Artist, we look very much assured at 10th at worst and over the next 24-48 hours will be in the mix for positions up to 6th, tweeterwall.mallplace.com/tw/worldwide/best-female-solo-artist

I will keep voting for Sharon just to show my support and just to prove to the nay-sayers that say the Corrs have been forgotten. We've never forgotten them, and Sharon's success is evidence of this. I see that Twitter is taking advantage of the popularity of these voting contests to promote a new online shopping mall. And having such things as the Star Trek v. Star Wars raises eyebrows. All this cheapens the competitions somewhat, but I'm still going to support Sharon. What is the story again about Sharon's "Team"? I think I get the MiaFund, but who exactly is "Mrs. Stephen Fry"? * * * * * If you are bored and waiting in between your chances to vote for the "Sharon Team", please do a personal favour for old Steve and put in a vote for a good musician, Bertolf. He could use a little extra support and I'd be very grateful for your help. The Dutchies apparently haven't yet caught on to the Twitter competitions. Just click this photo below and I'll keep revising the underlying URL so it will direct you to the correct page! Then look for the very same photo and vote. Easy and painless! Thanks! ;D

Stephen Fry is a very well-known British actor/comedian; in the past he was the comedy partner of Hugh Laurie (aka Dr House). He has a very sharp, self-deprecating wit and in recent times has became a Twitter addict.
Along with his own Twitter identity, he has created an alter-ego of Mrs Stephen Fry who is supposedly his long-suffering missus. Irony being that he is an "out" gay. "Mrs Fry" & Sharon started Tweeting each other ..... and all hell broke loose. It would appear that they go together like an arsonist & matches. Two weekends ago they had a weekend of pure delight in stirring each other to bits .... with Gav sometimes sticking in his oar. Shaz fans caught on to this and "pulled up chairs" to enjoy the show.
Mrs Fry aka Edna now passes herself off as Sharon's "forgotten sister" who got thrown out because Sharon was jealous of her looks and talent. Click on her and you'll see what she's done to her background. Apparently it is she who actually plays the violin offstage behind a curtain.
Re Mia, it was Fry who found out about her and started encouraging people to "follow her" and vote for her with the goal of her making the Top 20. Shaz caught onto this and got on-board. "Team Shaz" caught her Tweets, went and had a look at her page and her site and said "Yes, this is something we SHOULD do", not just because Sharon asked us to. This was in the last week ..... and the "voting ticket" was formed to vote for all 3.

Thanks for the explanation! I'm voting for the trio! It was kind of satisfying to see Sharon jump ahead of Britney Spears, hehe.

We've been slipping a bit recently in the ULTIMATE WORLD MS TWITTERER contest as a few have come out of nowhere (like and Wijntjuh and Banditgirll). There seem to be multiple "Veronicas" entries, so they may up to no good.
We're holding our own in the BEST FEMALE SOLO ARTIST contest, but I worry about some of the sleeping giants down below, who are quite capable of a massive surge. Therefore, we have to keep up the steady pace and not let up!

Wow, we really surged in placing in the past few hours. Good job everyone! Anybody know about these profiles that are in B&W with names starting with "W"? Am I right that they are members of the Wonder Girls, a pre-fabbed TV "girl group" from South Korea marketed towards early adolescents? Why is it that they are listed as entrants from the U.S.? From their website: I cringe at the thought of success being "created" by companies. This very thing is what has wreaked havoc in American music. We'll have to vote like crazy after their fans' parents tell them to go to bed! tweeterwall.mallplace.com/tw/worldwide/ultimate-world-ms-twittertweeterwall.mallplace.com/tw/worldwide/best-female-solo-artist

I watched "our" rise which started @ 3am UK/8pm US/12midday AUS and thought "jeez the Brazilians are REALLY going to town" but it continued on for several hours before quietening down somewhat.
To be honest, I have some doubts due to the following facts:
- the rate was incredible (@150/hr) which is "plausable" given the way some of the Sth American operations vote. Maybe they REALLY mobilised the "entire" fanbase down there.
- it went beyond the Brazilian hours
- there was NOT the flow-on to Mia & Mrs Fry that usually occurs when the Brazilians clock in for their voting shift NOT was this surge mirrored in Solo Artist (which is the usual practice).
- Whilst it is possible that someone has decided to "go rogue" (which WILL DEFINITELY see them ostracised); I am actually suspecting we may have been "set up" by an outside operation who will then try and put US in. Possiblilities are that small coterie of retards from D-V who have made Lisa's (Oz Queen) life a misery with their harassment OR NeneLilly.
That operator looks very suss to me. Only 12th in US comp; not Top 6 in Americas. Starting Friday she was on 4000 votes yet has surged how many thousand votes rather than a constant climb like all others. How is this possible ? I have Googled the quoted name (Korina K.Kuster) and all that comes up is the Twitter profile. One can surmise she has no public profile unless she has mobilised her local community unbeleivably !
I was suspecting a Vote Hack on her behalf then I saw 2 Tweets from her yesterday to 2 competitors just outside the Top 2 asking them to Direct Message her ASAP. Whilst there is nothing in the conduct of THOSE 2 campaigns to muster suspicion; it really has me smelling something unpleasant.
On both scores; our vote surge & the NeneLilly question; I would LOVE for my suspicions to be groundless but ....

OK Some major crap has just gone down/is going down
Our early surge died and we dropped down to 10th (although close spread between 7-10).
In the past hour FOUR Top 15 contenders (Webkast/The Eye/Banditgirl/Ikbenmama) were ALL culled 10000 votes and subsequently dropped out of Top 20. Sharon currently 6th although less than 1000 votes cover 4th-10th.Mia 14th/Mrs Fry 15th.
On the surface, it would appear they are doing some last minute scrutiny on who have been naughty boys/girls. Will there be others under/fail scrutiny ?

State of play entering final 2 hours.
Sharon looks increasingly secure in 5th place with a widening gap of 180-200 votes over 6th/7th and nearly 300 to 8th/9th. Have the Wonder Girls fans said "enough" OR will they mount one last surge.
Mrs Fry & Mia look to be secure in 14th/15th with a gap of @550 to 16th.
Solo Artist has taken a considerable back seat over past 36 hours.Sharon looks very secure in 7th with a gap of 2600 to Miley in 8th who has overtaken D-V. We are currently @ 870 behind 6th spot. Maybe we will look at that after Ms World.

We dunnit !!
At the close of the contest, Shaz finished 5th with a gap of 200 plus over 6th. Mrs Fry finished 14th & Mia 15th. ALL 3 have made the Twitter Wall of Fame. The rally over the final 36 hours was amazing. IF they had a drug test for a "vote-clicking steroid", then I suspect we'd have a clean sheet of "positives".
The Solo Artist comp still continues and it appears we are still operating on adrenalin ... or something. We've already culled @ 150 from our margin to 6th place. It does appear, at this stage, that we will still be attacking this one. Top 10 make the Wall which is assured. Top 5 IS a possibility as Paula Abdul has little momentum, and the form guide for the US acts so far is that once you pass them and put a 500 vote gap in them .. thats it.

Wombat, did you ever consider becoming a campaign manager? You're very good at noting and explaining trends, assessing the weaknesses of opponents, identifying challenges early on and rallying the team to meet these challenges. Good work to all those who voted incessantly and tirelessly. If anything, what we accomplished was to demonstrate how the Corrs still mean a lot to a lot of people. It was also demonstrated that Corrs fans have heart - and a heart. Given the obvious enthusiasm of the Brazilians as fans, I do believe that Sharon would do well to tour there at some point and nurture that fervent fan base that is showing her so much support. I love that enthusiasm. There are some very talented musicians whose fan base support is abysmal. I find such enthusiasm more rare in this (arguably) "post-Golden era" for the artists. Truly enthusiastic fans are a valuable commodity, and I applaud the monumental support shown by the Brazilians toward their artists who ran away with this contest. Still, I'm very proud of what was accomplished for Sharon! Her fans did not see her as a regular on any network television show. They simply fell into a lasting love for the MUSIC that has endured long years of little activity that might be considered an eternity by the standards of pop music. ;D Now let's continue the support in the other contest!

They simply fell into a lasting love for the MUSIC that has endured long years of little activity that might be considered an eternity by the standards of pop music. ;D Now let's continue the support in the other contest! Ah, the "smoky backrooms of politics" ! Yes, it HAS been a habitat of the Wombat on occaission. I managed a campaign in the NSW State Election back in 1999, not long before I went o/seas for much of the year. The seat wasn't really on the radar but we had a 12% swing, won the seat (and held it for 8 years) and in the process got rid of an annoying windbag bigot MP. I suppose it did come across in my approach to this. A team DID form around the world and it soon became clear that we WERE going to really give it a go. With that being the case, you ARE going to acheive best results by approaching the task intelligently. That means knowing the strengths/limitations of yr own team & observing the patterns of yr competitions. Lisa (Oz Queen) from COL & now a mod on Shaz site sould probably get the big credit as Generalissimo of Sharon's Army. Myself ... maybe Chief of Staff in the background. Sharon's project and her communication/interaction have had the effect of energising and mobilising the intl netbase. These Twitter campaigns have served to BOND the base together with the 3 main boards (CC,COL & here) all pulling in together and communication/new friends being made around the globe. She may not have dreamed of having this much effect but much goes down to Shaz & Gav's communication with us. It hasn't been pro-forma "This is what I'm doing" communication but two-way communication. It really hasn't been the fact that she HAS communicated or even so much WHAT she has communicated but more importantly the MANNER in which she has communicated. You comment about Heart is particularly appropriate; the bonding that has occured has shown through with the spirit in which we have competed and stuck at the task. The Mia adoption speaks a lot for us ... as it was something done not merely on Sharon's advice but because a number of our team observed Sharon/Fry's interaction and decided this was the "right" thing for us to do. This meant a bit to me as I have a "special needs" niece but people did this off their own bat before it got communicated to the wider team. For this alone, I am incredibly proud of "our team" as people. We weren't big in numbers (and had no way of competing agst the Braz operations) BUT I think we ended up being one of the smartest. On that subject and especially concerning the Brazilians. I REALLY have to salute Katia (Danalefay). She and the Dundalk band really appear to have been driving force behind 'Team Brazil" and knowing her from here certainly aided in communications. They were amazing !! But still, one has to really acknowledge ALL the parties involved. There were certainly a number of Aussies "in it up to the eyeballs" (which both Shaz & Gav noted) but I saw our friend Nyoman involved and there certainly appear to be some dedicated Filipino fans who have really been staunch. Our North Americans also need to be acknowledged. Apart from yourself, I've had considerable contacts with a bunch of Canadians & people on the East Coast & Scott certainly popped his head in. I have good reason to suspect a number of our others members in various corners of the world contributed valuably ... thank you all. Touring IS going to be interesting. Much will depend on label/budget. One wonders who has financed this so far ... my suspicion is that Shaz/Gav have sunk a bit into this ... maybe Anto/Keith others may be doing this at "mates rates" ... I could well be wrong. There IS clearly a demand beyond UK/Ireland. I'm suspecting the initial recording IS Spokes Records (John Hughes' label) given that it is one of their guys Admin on Shaz forum. Spokes does not, however, have the capacity for real intl release so we wonder abt the distribution arrangements. Wombat's very "uninformed" prognostication on markets for release beyond UK/Ire would be Spain, the Low Countries maybe France. If at all possible Australia and the Philippines. A good case is certainly being made for a limited release in Brazil. The situation is that it will be the ALBUM (the package in it's entirity) that will sell rather than singles. Smalltown Boy could actually cut through somewhat in some markets and I suspect INAD could go platinum in the Phils. Breaking the US ?? Forget mainstream and maybe target some Adult Contemporary stations in major centres. Another left-field suggestion would be target Countrypolitan/Country X-over. Ears Painted On has a very sassy feel to it which may be very attractive in that market. The album cut of INAD IS very beautiful and I salute Sharon & Fiachra Trench for their work. The song, however, is VERY transportable and COULD cross-over well with a slight country remix with the strings more muted and Anto throwing in some strategic licks on a Nashville Tele/Gibson or a Gretsch (if he has one in his locker). Same with touring. IF she has the budget ... defintely hit Spain, Euro festivals, Australia & Phils. If at all viable, see if she CAN play a gig in Brazil depending on where the bulk of the fanbase is located. US ? Maybe a few smaller gigs in a few major centres to the faithful (NY,Boston, Chicago maybe others with a strong Irish community).

Wow, the competition was exciting, wasn´t it?! Our goal was Top 10, remember CW?! And we´ve got TOP 5 !!! And I have to say that was the first time that Brazil won and I´m not happy about it! Honestly, we have no idea who those girls Favano were...But that´s ok! We did well! It was all about teamwork and team motivation!Yeah, brazilian fans have done their (our)part , but since Sharon and all Corrs are loved all around the Globe, all those votes were expected anyway! And CW was a great motivator!!! Steve, I´m glad you like our enthusiasm!!! Once The Corrs had never even planned to gig in here, can you imagine how we feel about chatting with Sharon herself?! It´s a bliss!!! She does reply us and even sent me a direct message!!! We miss The Corrs so much!!! Sharon´s album is the light in the end of the tunnel! I salute you back, CW, we all just one big team after all: team Corrs ! In the name of all brazilian fans, I thank you guys for the kind words and the wishes of a Sharon´s gig in Brazil! Fingers crossed! Well, I wish I could say more and better, but my english is limited, you know?! Let´s see what we can get with Best Female Solo competition now, right? Big hug!!! Katia

We now have a finishing point for Solo Artist. It will close 12noon next Friday 7 Aug.
State of play. We continued with a lot of momentum coming out of the Ms World and cut into Ruth's lead in 6th. This has sparked them into action and starting Thurs morning UK time they have been on a continual surge and pushed the margin out over 1400.
This has had the effect of sparking some action from Paula in 5th but by my reckoning, she will come under hard challenge within the next 24-48 hours. My money would be on Ruth prevailing in that one. Hayley Westenra is too far ahead in 4th to be a factor (Note: there has been a degree of vote flow between Hayley's team & ours with a number of each team casting additional votes for the other).
Where does that leave us ? We have actually held a very steady tempo and the fact is that it is highly unlikely that Ruth's team can sustain this momentum for the remainder of the competition ... generally 2-3 days at the most before having to scale down & allow people to rest.
Our end result hinges on this weekend. We lost a great deal of momentum during both weekends of the Ms World after putting in great weekends during UK/Europe. Whether we turn up to play will determine:
1. Whether we will be legitimate contenders for a Top 5. It is possible but it will be very hard work.
2. We will require a massive closing surge over the last 24-48 hours to try and grab 6th
3. Whether we fall back into a catfight with D-V & Miley for positions 7-9. They are currently @ 3400-3500 behind which should be safe BUT if we slacken off ...

Getting into last two days of Solo Artist ..... and the end of voting season !!
Barring us totally "clocking off early", we would seem to have locked up 7th place in this category. At one point our margin was cut down to 1700-1800, but a massive sustained effort has seen it climb to much safer levels ... currently over 3800 over D-V. Barring Ruth "clocking off" and an extraordinary surge by our team, 6th looks unrealistic.
The gap between 5th-6th has narrowed to low 2000 so may be interesting to watch. The final Wall of Fame spot (10th) has seen a prolonged scrap between Celine & Britney with Celine currently holding a useful but not insurmountable lead of nearly 800. The other interesting scrap may be for 3rd where Hayley Westenra has closed to within 1600 of Pink. There has been a little vote swapping between Team Hayley & Team Shaz, partly on "artistic" grounds and also the fact that they have ran a similar "cross timezones" approach between Sth Hemisphere & Nthn Hemisphere fanbases.
