I'm doing well, Linda, thanks. I hope all is well with you, too. At least I'm about as well as anyone who is about to get off the computer to go to work. I leave you with this group of Polish (?) fans of ELO performing "Strange Magic" in 2008. Those of you familiar with the music of ELO know that it's no small thing to perform covers. You need a small string ensemble! Well, these guys DID IT! HQ

Amazing!!! ..I used to really like ELOs music.. I ran out & bought Depeche Mode's new CD this morning.. woo hoo!! ;D ..deluxe ed. wi/ bonus DVD.. I'm listening to it right now, & so far, I have to say, I'm pretty impressed!! ..it's better than "Playing The Angel" ..Yesterday, I noticed alot of the songs got leaked out on youtube, ..& some of the comments following the songs were pretty negative.. Some were saying they'd never top the last album.. But, I'm enjoying it immensely right now, ..it's great.. ..a little mellow, ..but not boring! You should allllll check it out?!! ;D I gotta run off to work soon too today, Steve.. Too bad, it's such a lovely, sunny day.. spring is here!! ;D

I wouldn't worry about those comments about Depeche Mode. I know that I've had it happen before when I love an album so much that, when the artist comes out with a new album, I don't think it as good. Still, as time goes by, I grow to like it more. Sanne Hans of the Dutch band Miss Montreal and her friend Bertolf Lentink did a lovely duet called "Won't You Let Me Have My Way With You" which is found on the Miss Montreal album: HQ

I recently learned of Nick Drake, a lonely, brooding musician from England who sold few albums, never came close to having a hit, and died in 1974. He tried to perform his music but gave up - the people in the pubs and bars would not quiet down and listen and this discouragement made him decide to quit touring. He ended up in a major depression, suffering insomnia and retreated to a room at his parents house where, despite his family's efforts to understand and help him, he died of an overdose of prescribed anti-depressants at the age of 26. Despite barely making a wave of interest during his lifetime, his music has slowly won the the attention of the world, beginning with other musicians - people like Kate Bush (for example), so that now he is considered one of the most influential musicians of the past 50 years and his fame continues to grow. One of the reasons I decided to listen to his music was the fact that Sharon Corr said during her recent interview that she really appreciates his music. Here are some YouTubes of his work: The Riverman: www.youtube.com/watch?v=idcaRTg4-fM&fmt=18Clothes of Sand: HQSaturday Sun: HQMakes you wonder who's out there now making music that nobody knows or cares to hear, but who could be a legend in another time to come.

Hey, Linda! Like I said at the ABBA site, I didn't think I would know that song, but as soon as I heard the chorus, I knew it! I hadn't heard it in about 30 years, though! Here's a song that I have been liking lately. It's a brand new song called "Welcome the Sun" by Bertolf - great songwriter! - and a young singer/songwriter named Stevie Ann: www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEhqDutT3LI (removed)

Wow! There hasn't been a post here in a long time. (Well, there haven't been too many posts anywhere, for that matter). Since becoming a fan of the Corrs, which brought me in contact with fans from all over the world, I have been constantly amazed at all the really good music that never gets heard in the States. In 2005 or 2006 (I can't remember which), my friend Cynthia sent me a music CD by Dutch singer. I liked it so much that it started me checking out more music from the Netherlands. One of the artists that I found out about is Stevie Ann. Anybody who can write a song like "Poetry Man" at age 19 is alright in my book! And she really has a great voice. “Poetry Man” “Baby Blue” “Get Away” “Whole Lotta Rain” (Live) “One Year of Love” (Queen cover) Here's a program in which Stevie Ann gives a concert inside the home of the family of a winning 3FM listener:

Here is a very performance by Stevie Ann of her song "Light Up" (I think from last Friday): I did a little post on her HERE at the Corrs Club. She's going to be performing in California in August. Rather a small world when you think of who it was that produced her latest album - Mitchell Froom:
