No, they´re not! They just performed for Switzerland! That´s what I find so annoying! Switzerland just got Vanilla Ninja to sing for them ´cause they are known in a couple of other countries as well. Oh and do you know what drove me mad? That Ruslana did not perform "Wild dances" again. Only some other songs... I´d ´have loved to see them perform "Wild dances" again.

The Finnish Broadcasting Company (YLE) is to host the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest at the Helsinki Arena. The semi-final for the 52nd Contest will take place on May 10 and the final on May 12, 2007.

This year's hosts are TV presenter Jaana Pelkonen and actor Mikko Leppilampi.

Ohhh just read the list of the semi finals hehe.
At least now I know when it is our turn.
I really hope this year we can enter again. And Edsilia Rombley is really good. Several years ago when she was doing her best for our country she ended up 4th place at the finals! (think it was 1998?) That was really good!!

And I am soo glad they leave it up to good singers again.
Okay not complaining much but the last few years it was every time a bit unknown singers and then the most weird songs. Like last year in the semi finals...geesh..they let 3 girls perform...hitting on their djembe's and singing a fantasy language. Like how weird is that

i don´t like the song "i love you mi vida" i don´t know why They are on the final.i am cruel with my country,i have got my reasons,i´m ashamed about our representatives.i loved so much Finland with "hard rock hallelujah". Spain won 1 or 2 years with:massiel and the other... i can´t remember it.

I can't believe that Serbia won this year! i think that this song ant performance is muck. Our singer (4fun) shows realy good and i think song was not so bad. but... eurovision is so political contest!! everybody votes for neighbours. that's sucks.
best performance, voice and song i think was girls from Georgia. And that we see in lithuanian voting. Georgia 12!!!

Well you can be proud of Spain this year. Sure they didn't get much points but they performed very well. And I think the song was ok. I saw the contest live and Spain got one of the biggest cheers of the evening. You should have seen all the people dancing when they sang. It was amazing. So you can be proud.

Btw, Spain, UK, Germany and France are automatically in the final every year.

Eurovision Song Contest 2008

We are heading to Belgrade, Serbia, for the 53rd running of the Eurovision Song Contest. A record number of 43 countries will be represented at the upcoming contest. And for the first time, the Eurovision Song Contest features two Semi-Finals.

Six pots

To determine which country will be represented in which Semi-Final, a draw will take place in late January. Based on research conducted by the EBU’s tele-voting partner Digame, analyzing the voting of the Eurovision Song Contest since 2004, the participating countries will be divided into six pots to avoid returning voting patterns.

Big Four-countries

Each broadcaster will of course have to broadcast the Semi-Final they are taking part in. Broadcast of the other Semi-Final is optional. Host country Serbia and the so-called Big Four-countries Spain, France, the United Kingdom and Germany, are automatically qualified for the Final. It was decided that each of the qualified Finalists will have to broadcast and vote in one of the Semi-Final, along with those countries that are taking part in it. Broadcast of the other Semi-Final is optional. By draw, also late January, it will be decided which two of the Big Four-countries will broadcast and vote in the first Semi-Final, and which two in the second Semi-Final. Finally, a draw will determine in which Semi-Final the host country will be able to vote.

The draw for the running order of the two Semi-Finals and the Final will take place during the Heads of Delegation meeting in mid-March.

Backup jury gets important new role

In each Semi-Final, the top-9 from the public tele-voting results will qualify for the Final. The highest ranked back-up jury participant that did not qualify for the Final at the public tele-voting will also qualify for the Final. This means in each Semi-Final, 10 participants will qualify for the Final, bringing the total number of participants in the Final to 25. The voting in the Final will remain unchanged and all participating countries, including those who did not qualify for the Final, will be able to vote.

Svante Stockselius, the EBU’s Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest, said to Eurovision.tv: "We are confident that the approved format revisions will take the Eurovision Song Contest to a higher level, by adding exciting elements and, above all, by making the competition more fair and the results more credible."

I haven't heard any of this year's songs except Finland's song "Missä miehet ratsastaa" and I've watched Sweden's preselections and they have some good songs. (Sweden's national final is tonight.)

Oh cool!! Thanks for that info, Sanna! ;D I didn't realize how far the idea has progressed. I'd like to see that happen. It would be something that I'd like to watch.
