Thanks for sharing this ABBA link! Just awesome. As you said, I just like the fact how Frida´s voice seems to come through stronger...because I just love Frida´s voice. I was wondering though whether that also might have been due to the mics. Not sure whether on purpose or coincidentical. Since it was for tv and it was ABBA I believe it was on purpose. Just wondered because we had a concert a couple of week ago where the sound technician kept on mistaking one mic for the other. Grrrrr. Anyway, great ABBA clip!!!

She's singing Live over a backing track, I think.. She did that alot, even during her solo years.. It sounds just awesome, doesn't it?!! Another band I'm re-discovering today, ..on an otherwise miserable rainy day.. Even tho I'm sure they broke up in the early part of this decade.. it's too bad, I only got to know the music of Blur "after" they were pretty much done.. But, I've alway liked the hapless lead singer, Damon Albarn.. His singing voice is rather unique.. He doesn't try to disquise his British accent.. This is one of Blur's best songs.. Hope you enjoy it too.. ;D www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpyIk4sFCR0&feature=related

Blur.... Britpop.... Wow, I can remember that I went to a concert of then, the end of April 1997... The last album I did not like though. They kinda lost their British sound by then. I do have all their older albums. And I have a plectrum that the bassplayer threw at me during the concert About ABBA, if I "remember" well, it was always Frida who was arranging stuff for concerts and all. She was the one who loved to tour most, compared to Agneta and the guys. From the four of them, Anni-frid was the true performer. She still is though, in my opinion. I still love the duets she did with Marie Fredriksson (Anglamark for the Swedish king and queen & Alla mina bästa år on cd & single).

Oh, wow.. Cynthia!! ..I'm sooo happy you like Blur as well.. Now, we have another group in common.. ;D I agree, the last album from Blur wasn't as good as the earlier stuff.. But, I did like a couple of songs.. I saw some news on the internet yesterday which says they might be getting back together to do some concerts this year.. In London's Hyde Park, & maybe a few other places in Europe.. That's good news!! Hopefully, they'll make another album together too, ..but, at this point, I'm not holding my breath.. Thanks for the kind words regarding Frida.. You're right.. She's such a wonderful performer, & human being.. I will always love her..

Hi Linda! Thanks for the information on Blur. I knew very little about them. I was thinking that Damon Albarn's voice sort of reminds me of that of David Bowie. Just then, I noticed that among the "related videos" there was one of a duet with Damon Albarn and David Bowie! A funny true story that I read: Bertolf was going to meet with Alex James to do some songwriting, but he didn't realize that it was another Alex James and not the bass player for Blur. He didn't find out until he was at Schipol airport and was texting Alex James, “I’m looking forward writing with YOU man! Great honour, blabla”. And he got a reply: “I’m not Alex James from Blur, if that’s what you thought..." Bertolf almost thought that it was a joke, but he realized that he would be working with another Alex James. He went ahead and flew to London and wrote songs with that OTHER Alex James. Still, the songs came out great.

Cute story, Steve.. LoL!!! Thanks for sharing.. ;D He must've felt a little silly.. I like Bertolf's music.. Thanks for the youtubes you posted on the ABBA site, by the way.. ;D I never really thought of Damon as sounding like David Bowie before.. & I must've missed their duet together.. But now, I'll check it out.. LoL!!! ;D I've always just thought Damon's voice was kinda unique.. I like it alot these days, anyway..

Hi Linda! Well, about Damon Albarn sounding like David Bowie, I think it has to do with what you said earlier: Damon doesn't try to disguise his British accent - and I think Bowie is the same way. At least that thought occurred to me when I heard him the first time. He has a great voice! (BTW, thanks for the reply at the ABBA board re. Bertolf! Keith Hazelton (the DJ in the UK that I was telling you about) played a song of his on his show tonight, too. )

Ahhh! The winter of 1978-1979! I remember some of those days, and I remember discovering this album track on Scottish singer/songwriter Gerry Rafferty's City to City album. It's a pretty little song called "Island". I was happy to find this song. Sorry, but you'll just have to "suffer" through all those beautiful pictures of Kate Winslet! Another song on the album that I loved was Right Down The Line.

thanks for sharing... never heard about that guy before... does he still sings?? Actually, when looking into the current status of Gerry Rafferty last night, I discovered that he has had severe problems with alcohol Even worse, currently he is a missing person, whereabouts unknown. He was the son of an Scottish mother and an Irish father.

Glad you like it. Here's a song that I recently discovered by a band from the U.S. Pacific Northwest called The Fleet Foxes. The song is called "Mykonos" from their 2008 EP, Sun Giant: HQYes! 2008!! I'm not kidding! It's already inspiring covers. Nice job by these musicians! I first heard the song on a UK radio station. The Fleet Foxes are pretty big in the UK now.
