that they are all written by Graham Gouldman..who also was a bandmember of 10cc ? You're exactly right, Steph!! ;D I only recently learned (from watching YouTube) that the same person, Graham Gouldman, had a hand in writing all of these songs. I am very impressed and, yet, I had not heard of him until that moment. ie.youtube.com/watch?v=P-qcJAr_dBY&fmt=18

About 6 or 7 years ago, I stumbled across some songs of Miriam Stockley of South Africa. I guess you could call her music "classical" - I don't really know, but I do know that this song is based on the famous adagio by Albinoni. ie.youtube.com/watch?v=EMi6ipiJ9zEAnd, Bernard, I don't like this simply because of the blonde violinist in it! ;D This one (below) called "Empty Space" is amazing - at least I think so: ie.youtube.com/watch?v=EMrhv0XKfq4&fmt=18Whenever I point out the song, I've never found anyone who agrees with me. It's such a tranquil song, but Miriam's voice is incredibly beautiful. Her website: www.miriam.co.uk/Her MySpace: www.myspace.com/miriamstockleymusicCW, do you know her?

Can't say I know her personally but definitely know of her reputation. She is a quality artist and has been for many, many years but most of that has been in the service of others.
She has been UK based since the late 70's and was probably the "go-to girl" as regards female session/backing vocals of the 80's in the UK. She was a cornerstone of the Stock Aitken Waterman oufit and certainly embellished many a hit/inferior vocalist during that period. Was also heavily sought out by Queen over that period. Has also done a lot of movie/TV soundtrack work over the past 20 years. During the nineties, she moved more away from the full-time session work and more towards her current music genre with the Adiemus series of recordings and later with Mike Oldfield.

Oh, thanks CW! I didn't know all that or that she has been in the UK that long. I do remember reading that she had made a career out of being a session or background vocalist, but I didn't know who she has worked with.
I'm glad that she decided to step into the spotlight some more with her own music. She's a superb singer.

But where to find all that, to amaze me to you all; or then you have a very big knowledge musical If that's right as we say in France : Chapeau bas messieurs

I found out about her music entirely by accident. I was actually looking around on the internet for info on Loreena McKennitt!

Guitarist extraordinaire Russ Barenberg is one of the Americans who plays on the Cara Dillon DVD that I've been touting. While surfing around on YouTube, I came across some of his work from years back: ie.youtube.com/watch?v=dcSnqiRFFS4&fmt=18It's a nice ensemble instrumental piece for guitar, dobro, acoustic bass, and bodhran.

I think this is a really powerful song by the Belgian band, K's Choice which is fronted by Sarah Bettens: K's Choice - "Dad"From talking to a lot of people, the song reflects a common scenario. Cynni went to a concert and made this video of Sarah singing ABBA's "Money, Money, Money". ie.youtube.com/watch?v=d6GOmaR8oTY

Thank you, Simone! In the first video, that's a remarkable gathering of talent - songwriting and singing! Frida is really great in that she has a classically training voice, but she can sing pop too without it sounding "stilted". Thank you for the seoond video of Olivia Newton-John singing "Silent Night", also one of my favourite carols. I have a soft spot for Olivia.

I thought this is cool YouTube story: You have two music-loving musicians living an ocean away - A keyboard player and singer from Denver, Colorado named Jimmy Gelhaar... ... and a guitarist named Bastiaan Zijlstra from Drachten, Netherlands... They have never met! Spending over a month sending files back and forth using free software and FINALLY ended up with this collaborative recording of "Hotel California"! HQThe world can be a pretty cool place! Bastiaan also posted the first-ever YouTube cover of one of Bertolf's songs called "Another Day"! ie.youtube.com/watch?v=dxjH0osEQho&fmt=18
