Wow! Those pictures! ;D She's so photogenic. And she's plays piano too! That's going to be great to hear, just like it was with Andrea. Nice to see Dad there! Thanks much, Wombat! I could only see one of the titles. ProBoards has this glitch that doesn't allow really long URLs, but the link is HERE.

Oh, you beat me up to it. I've just want to post the same thing. ;D Sharon looks more gorgeous on all this pics. It's nice that Gerry was there to support her daugther. That piece of the song looks more Irish from it's tittle IMO, so maybe there's some songs would sound like Home album, but she was confirmed that the album would be Pop Rock. Ah well.. Anyway, nice to see she was having fun on the studio and also having an orchestra behind her. ;D

Yes, I agree with Nyoman, that this orchestra looks very promising for the music. Ah, I see the other title now! I'm so elated with the recent developments - since this announcement of the solo album from Sharon. Before that, I had feared that the desire to make music had run its course with the arrival of children, and now I hear her say in an interview that it's what she loves, her job, and what she wants to do for the rest of her life. Wonderful news! Like everyone, I do hope we'll hear more from "the Corrs" but, for now, this is all such a thrill.

I refrained from commenting in the original post. Here are my thoughts:
- These photos reinforce the positive vibe I've had about this project. She comes across as a very "together' lady; far more secure "in her own skin" and artistically than Andrea. Her confidence in her own ability and with whom she is working is shown with the laughter and ease of manner in a number of the photos.
- Clearly, some of that session was being filmed. Wonder if it is for an EPK of some sort. Her casual outfit/minimal makeup hints to me that is was unlikely to be a "clip". Having said that; the last photo is quite possibly one of the best Sharon photos I've ever seen and they'd be crazy not to use it.
- Dear old Papa. His presence is really no surprise. His children have all remained very close to him. Jean & Gerry WERE present for a number of the big events in their career such as RAH & Lansdowne Road. In 96, they paid for a holiday for their parents out to Australia when they had a large tour. Those who have the ATWH DVD will have noticed that they took Dad along for the later Europen leg of the BH tour. To me this says more than a little about them as people; you don't really see them doing the big "public luvvies" but it's their actions that speak - "the game they play rather than the game they talk".
Well, only a couple of days to IOW and the first gig. We haven't heard the new stuff but her CV as a songwriter/composer of instrumentals gives me considerable confidence. It WILL be daunting for her fronting by herself but she is playing with people who are effectively "her musical family" and in whom she has total musical and personal trust. Moreover, the lady DOES have stage presence and charm ..... and one suspects a sizeable Corr fanbase amongst the crowd.
My one possible reservation has been that of her vocals and the capacity to "carry" a solo album. Baby sis should say thanks every day for having Sharon (and Caro) as her "b vox". Sharon certainly proved that she could front certain numbers during the band days .... and may have fronted one or two more than she did. But hers is NOT a "rock" voice .... and certainly hasn't the power or range of Andrea. Soft ballads - yes, folk - yes, some light pop - possible; country cross-over - yes. She WILL be doing a few "oldies"; case in point Runaway is a goer, Breathless or Irresistable - I don't think so.
Having said that, I 'm sure she's smart enough to know what works for her and that they'll strike the best possible vocal/instrumental mix. Go get 'em, girl !!!

They keep it coming !! A sneak peek at what may be the first single has been posted both on the website and on YouTube. It will be either "It's Not A Dream" or a cover of the Bronski Beat's "Smalltown Boy". She also talk a little about her songwriting history. Expect a series of these clips to come out over the next few weeks, including some more behind the scenes, new material and IOW. "It's Not A Dream" is very romantic. Very pleasantly surprised with her voice and she should give Fiachra Trench a big hug for his orchestration. www.youtube.com/watch?v=3G9QPz9pjM8

Thanks, CW! It's a beautiful song! I love the orchestration, too. It has that romantic "Runaway" timbre to it, and I love the melody she gives to the violin: HQAnd, yes, I have to say that I was a bit surprised by how much Sharon's voice sounds like Andrea's type of lead vocal in this sample as opposed to, say, "Dimming of the Day".

OMG! What a very romantic song, don't you think?!! ;D I'm thrilled to hear it, I can't wait to hear the studio version. I hope it's not too different with this version.

I can't wait to hear the studio version. I hope it's not too different with this version. Ny, I couldn't agree more !!! The orchestration sounded "just right"; adding just the right texture to the song. Would be interested to see the instrumentation. Not sure whether drums would be a fit for this song and what guitar option they take. Whilst acoustic seems an obvious choice; I could see a few "licks" from Anto's Gibson adding something to it. Andrea's was so GROTESQUELY overproduced .... let's hope they just let the music breathe !! My first impressions: - Exceed expectations ?? Yes. I expected something melodic and we got that. She has given us something that first and foremost is easy to listen to. No oversinging ... no overpowering arrangement ... simplicity = eloquence. - Is it commercial ?? Can't see it getting US mainstream airtime. UK ?? Could get airtime but not on top 40 stations. I COULD forsee it being successful in some Asian markets, should it be promoted and released. - Sharon's vocals ?? Big pleasant surprise. The clarity of her upper range really impressed me. A very good song for her. - Could this song be taken up by other artists ?? Definitely. My sense is that this song could easily be taken a little bit country with a tweak of the arrangment (guitars) and someone could "chart" this one either in the US or Australia. - See this song on a Corrs set-list ?? Hell yeah .... and I don't mean handing it over to little sister !! This IS very much a Corrs number and rather than lead/backing vocals, I'd be tempted to go 3-part harmony. Just as ATLITW became a showstopper when taken live and acoustic, this one could definitely go over big !! The b-vox on the track had me interested. It DID have a very Corrish sound to it. Odds are they are Sharon overdubbs but there is just that little hint of Cazz. Maybe that media rumour of a month or so back had just a smidge of fact involved. Perhaps someone DID see a certain lady sneak into Windmill Studios ...... put 2 & 2 together ..... and came up with 463. Will be interested to find out about those b-vox !! Also like that she is quite happy to run with the bloopers on this EPK. The accompanying humour was one of the most endearing aspects of the band in it's prime. If only more artists had this trait ??

Good observations, I think. I don't mean to be bashing Andrea for having the same opinions as you about Ten Feet High. I'm a big fan of Andrea. However, mistakes were made, and Sharon had the benefit of learning from them. For me, the price of Andrea's first solo album was worth it for "Ideal World" alone, which was probably one of the least "tampered" tracks. I marvel at the intiative being taken by Sharon (and Gavin). It's still a mystery (at least to me) as to the record label backing this venture, but she's definitely taking a more hands-on approach than I've ever seen from a Corr. I would be pleased if they started their own small label. I think that Sharon is harnessing the still-very powerful worldwide affection for the Corrs and engaging the fans in a way that is entirely refreshing after years of us having to put up with COW. The Brazilian fans in particular seem to be very vocal and ardent, and for our friend Katia's sake I hope that Sharon will one day soon make it to that country. I see "It's Not a Dream" having a powerful appeal in Asia, as well. I thought that the bloopers were great too.

Post Glasto from Herself
"Just getting a chance to read all ur msgs, Glasto was a Blast! Enjoyed every moment and the crowd loved it! So me a happy tweety tday x"
"Hi Fellow tweeters in OZ, caxn't wait to get down there some time soon hopefully!" (that was to a Gold Coast radio station .... and indirectly to some others of us).
I Tweeted her yesterday on behalf of Bluey's vast fan network thanking her for his triumphant return. It obviously appealled to her sense of humour (or she's got used to mine !!) because her final Tweet of the day ended "Bluey rocks! x"
Latest update:
"Gonna work on some new stuff with Anto tomorrow, tday I'm gonna be a gd mum after abandoning the kiddies for Glasto x"
Makes one wonder how Gav and the kids are coping with Sharon's ongoing quest for World Domination. Hopefully, not TOO many nights of baked beans on toast or takeaway. BTW, Gav himself is on Twitter .... apparently had a good time and had a wee sore head the next day.
Personal observations on EPK 2. Can see why Runaway was used but might have preferred Unplugged as I thought Geneva was a less than optimal Runaway. Love her continuing theme of humour .... it's really coming through with ALL of her communications with us.
Smalltown Boy .... I was REALLY interested on how she would approach this one. I will summarise my response with my Tweet to Sharon "looks like you and Fiachra have created something very beautiful"
She did respond "Fiachra Trench is the best.". Agreed Sharon, and congratulations on NOT copying Andrea's mistakes. Not only are you working with a team of quality musicians, but also people who are in tune with her musically.
It is a very different take on Smalltown Boy but in a way very much a Corrs cover. Not so much in it's sound but in the sense that, like the band's covers, a great deal of thought has gone into putting a distinctive spin on the original. There could be some mileage in this one.
