Ok, my mum has finished reading her book, but, she forgot to tell me. How can she forget to tell me this. That´s the most important thing, hahahaha (I´m exaggerating, but only a little bit). We´ve already talked a bit about the book and what we thought about it and now she isn´t as averse to joining our reading group as she was before, so it´s very likely that she´ll post something about the book soon.

I'm looking forward to reading what your mum has to say, Sabine! Well, I recently finished P.S. I Love You and, wow!, what a great book. And Cecelia Ahern is an outstanding novelist in many ways. One way is her ability to evoke emotions with her writing. I read much of the book in my backyard, and I kept wondering what the neighbors think about all of that *sniffing* and laughing on the other side of the fence?. Another way is her talent for capturing the reader's interest. As I was reading, I couldn't stop - and why was that? When I thought about it, there were always about a dozen reasons why I couldn't wait to read the next chapter. For example, what will be Gerry's next item on the list for next month? Who is the "leprechaun" doing the gardening? So much happens in the interaction of Holly with her family and friends. So many surprises within the characters of Holly's own family (except for Dad always loving lots of gravy *lol*). Just when I thought I had her brothers and sisters (and also Holly's friends) figured out, Cecelia Ahern would reveal something new about them - about Ciara, about Declan, about Richard, about Denise, etc., etc. I have already given the book to a co-worker to read. I wonder what she will think.

Hihi, I wanna see that with my very own eyes, before I believe it! At first I wanted to answer "She did not tell you that she finished the book because she was afraid that you´d force her into the reading group now! Haha. And Steve, in case your neighbours should be wondering, just give them a copy of the book and soon you´ll hear a lot of laughing and sniffing from their side of the fence, too! *lol* You´ll let us know what your co-worker has to say about the book, right? By the way, I liked the character Richard from the moment he was mentioned first. I love if a character is hard to read. I somehow knew that there must be more about him, than Cecelia wanted us to know at first!

Hey Caro! I´m still having the same problem. Now that I´m really having holidays, I also need something to read very urgently. I´ll probably go into town on Monday and then I´ll have a look at the book store. When I come back, I´ll definitely let you know what I´ve found out. Hopefully I´ll find some interesting books for us to read during our vacations.

I can really understand that Caro. 4 weeks without a good book to read, that´s impossible. ;D Well, I was in town today and had a look at our 2 big bookstores. I wanted to find something in English and unfortunately they don´t have a great variety of books in foreign languages. I think the demand for that is not high enough here in Paderborn. But, as I really didn´t know what I was looking for, I had to buy what they offered me, because I thought it would be rather difficult to find it on the internet. I mean, google probably doesn´t know what I want either, hahaha. So, that´s what I found out: First of all, I bought a book by Sophie Kinsella, called "The undomestic goddess". It sounds really funny and I have only heard the best about this author. She has written several novels that all enjoyed great popularity. This book is her latest novel. You can have a look at her website here: www.randomhouse.com/bantamdell/kinsella/index.htmlNext I´ve seen two books by Lauren Weisberger. They are called "The devil wears Prada" (I´ve just seen that this one will come out as a movie this year) and "Everyone worth knowing". Her books also seem to be funny. I remember that I´ve already seen her first one, the Prada one last year and that I thought it might be a good read. She´s a young American writer and these 2 books are her first ones. This is her website: www.laurenweisberger.com/Which book also seems to be quite good is "Swallowing Grandma" by Kate Long. The description on the back of the book is really funny, so I can imagine that the book´s great, too. www.katelong.co.uk/index.htmThat´s what I found out in town today. But, as I have read none of these books myself, at least until now, I can´t tell you if they are really good. I´ll tell you as soon as I know. All I can tell you now is, that all of the books that I´ve presented here in this post have received really good reviews. But, what I can really recommend are these books: Luanne Rice "Summer´s Child" and "Summer of Roses". These two books belong together. The story is continued in the second book. It´s a really great novel, that is about love and faith and at the same time the story also tells some kind of criminal story. I can highly recommend these two books. The author has a great style of writing. She has written a lot of novels, but these 2 are here latest ones. www.randomhouse.com/features/luannerice/ So, and now you can read and enjoy!!!

Hey! Thanks for all those recommendations! I have a book by Sophia Kinsella. It's called "Can you keep a secret?" I didn't read it yet, i only started, but I liked her style! hihi, she's really funny sometimes, but i only read the first three pages or something, so...i'm not such an expert yet . BUt I'll tell you if I liked it . Means that I have ONE book yet. There's nothing said about a new novel by Cecelia right? haha, I somehow became really addicted to her novels hahaha. Those two books you talked about, "Summer's child" and "Summer of roses". I actually I wanted to look for them when I was in town on Sunday, BUT i forgot the little notesheet where i wrote their names down at home so i forgot what the novels were called hahaha. ;D typically me! BUt I'll go to town again and will search for those books! We have a few big bookstores here in berlin! One is called DUSSMANN and there we have a whole floor only with books from foreign countries. a huge part english books of course . hehhe. You'd love it!

Caro, we´re sooo going to go to that bookstore in October AND December! (Two times Berlin for me this year, I´m already looking forward to it so much!) Is that the bookstore we went to the last time I was in Berlin? You know, the one we discovered when we walked through the city with Daniel, Melli and Kjell? Because that one was quite impressive! But, I guess, you´re talking about yet another bookstore, aren´t you? For I can´t remember that there was a whole floor with foreign books…though their English book section was particularly GIANT!
Caro, if you want to you may just have a look at the books in my shelf and what´s more in the shelfs of the guest room, when you´re at our place in July. Maybe you find something interesting there. We have like everything, starting with “The old man and the sea” or “Winnetou” (Haha) to the biography of Geri Halliwell (haha). No, seriously, I am sure there´s something you might want to read.
I still have this one book that I need to read…I forgot the title (Maybe it was “Guinness und Christstollen” or something like that.) but it is supposed to be a fun story about Irish and German Christmas traditions in comparrison to each other. I am glad that I do not have time to read it now because this way I can read it around Christmas *lol*.I once got the book as gift from my friend Stefanie years back and never managed to read it.
But it seems like our internet research queen did yet another excellent job, don´t you think so, Caro? I´d love to read each and every book that you suggested, Sabine, but I still have so many books to read and no time and no patience. Ah! I still have to finish “Irish girls are back in town” and then I want to read the collection of Irish fairytales and I still have to finish the GoA books and then there´s “The blessing stone” by Barbara Wood that I never finished reading and “Letters for Emily” by Camron Wright and….you see, I do not have the problem of not knowing what to read. I simply do not have enough time to read.

Well, Swanny, I didn't start it yet. I waited until way too late in the night to start reading. I started reading about the Riddle house 50 years ago and then I kept catching myself closing my eyes. Finally I gave up and went to sleep. I am looking forward to it though. Oh, Sabine, I was in a bookstore last night and I saw the "Devil Wears Prada" book that you are talking about. Also, I saw a paperback of If You Could See Me Now! The problem is that I already ordered a hardcover of A Silver Lining. But I'm happy that I got my hardcover for less than what the paperback is selling for at my local Barnes and Noble. So I definitely have MY summer reading lined up for me nicely!

Sophie has written a lot of books meanwhile and they all seem to be quite funny and entertaining. Besides "Can you keep a secret" and "The undomestic goddess", which are her two most recent ones, she has also written a series of books about a girl who´s a shopaholic: "Shopaholic takes Manhattan", "Confessions of a shopaholic", "Shopaholic ties the knot" and "Shopaholic & sister". If I like the book I bought now, I´ll read all the other ones as well, for sure. Oh no, too bad that you didn´t have the note with you, to check on those Luanne Rice books.

Hey guys! Now, I´ve started reading "The undomestic goddess" by Sophie Kinsella. So far, I´ve only read 40 pages, but I can say that I really like it up to now. And, I do not only like the content, I also like her style of writing. That´s a big plus. So, I hope that this book will turn out as a great read, because then I can also read all her other novels, which are quite a lot, and I would have enough to read for the summer.
