Heya all!
I thought I started this topic already, but then I was mistaken... So here it is!
When Iw as 13 I fell totally in love with Roxette's music. The first cd I bought was Joyride... And then I was just counting the days till the Crash! Boom! Bang! album would appear in April 1994... And I still love their music a lot, some of you might have noticed.
So if any of you know Roxette and wanna chat about it, please feel free to use this space...
My all-time-favorite song is "The Sweet Hello, The Sad Goodbye", which was never released as a single, just as a b-side. The best single ever was/is "Run to you", and their video to it is also Roxing!
*hugs*

I didn't know that much about Roxette. I thought that Roxette was the name of the woman singer. I have since learned that Roxette is the duo of Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle. They certainly have a gift of writing great pop songs and ballads with great melodies. I really like this band, and it would be fun to see them reunite. I have been learning lately that I underrated Roxette. "Run to You" and "The Sweet Hello, The Sad Goodbye" are just a few of their great songs among many. They had many hits in the U.S. but for some reason, all I ever remember hearing played (over and over and over) was "It Must Have Been Love" (from Pretty Woman) and "Listen To Your Heart." Roxette wrote and performed many, many good songs, I am learning. Some of their songs, such as "The Look," I know well, but did not know who the band was at the time. Speaking of hearing "It Must Have Been Love" over and over and over" I just read at his site ( www.sonofaplumber.se/) that Per Gessle is recently visited London to pick up BMI-awards for "It Must Have Been Love" (over 4 million airplays in the U.S.) and "Listen To Your Heart" (over 2 million airplays in the U.S.). I didn't even know they kept track of airplays like that!

Yeah, I made a Corroxer of Steve But even if Roxette is "off" for a while, that will never mean that I do not love their music anymore... But there are so many good songs they made, and many of them never made it as a single. For instance, "My world, my love, my life" from their last album "Room Service" (not to be confused with Bryan Adams' RoomService) is an amazing song... And the site: www.sonofaplumber.se is from Per Gessle's latest project "Son of a plumber", he had a new cd out (first under this artist name) last November and it is amazing!!!! It is all in the 70s style and it has some amazing songs like "I like it like that" and "JoAnna Says". You gotta love it

I didn't know that much about Roxette. I thought that Roxette was the name of the woman singer. C'Mon Steve where where you in the 80's under a rock?,lol Well, to be honest, a LOT of people think that Roxette is "just" Marie Fredriksson.... And then you say that there is also Per Gessle and that they are a duo and they go like: owwww it that so? So, Steve is not the only person who thinks/thought that hehe

C'Mon Steve where where you in the 80's under a rock?,lol I KNOW!! How did I miss Roxette? Maybe it was because I was underwater so much, being on the college swim team and practicing five hours a day on top of classes. I was attending university during part of the eighties and didn't have much time to listen to the radio, plus sometimes college students listen to music outside of mainstream pop. During college, I was real big into classical music, and I was also a big fan of Linda Ronstadt's collaboration with Nelson Riddle and his orchestra on three albums. I do remember lots from that time, some I liked, some I didn't. Off the top of my head.... The Cars, Tom Petty, Dire Straits, Duran Duran, Asia, Journey, U2, Pat Benatar, The Stray Cats, Blondie, Madonna, Toto, Men At Work, REO Speedwagon, Simple Minds, John Mellencamp, Michael Jackson, Joe Jackson, Peter Gabriel, Genesis, The Bangles, Nu Shooz, Air Supply, The Pretenders, The Clash, Berlin, Cyndi Lauper, The Motels, The Culture Club, Human League, The Thompson Twins, Bruce Springsteen, Van Halen, Foreigner, Simply Red, The Police, Taylor Dayne. In the dorms, I had two girls living right above me who listened to the Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack every single night! AAAHHHH!!! That reminds me of the time in which I kept hearing one of the girls above talk about "ending it all." Well, I didn't want to see one of the girls flying downwards from the seventh floor past my sixth floor window, so I went up to speak with her about her problems. I was embarrassed to find out that she was in drama and was rehearsing for a play! She started laughing at my attempts to offer her counseling. Hahahaha! ;D The guys on my swim team were real big into The Rolling Stones and The Who, and they liked to make up dirty limericks. So, with all of that, I missed Roxette! But, thanks to my dear friend Cynthia, I am learning to give proper credit to Roxette! I am making up for my deficiencies!

Thanks Steve, but as said, there are a lot of people who might have heard Roxette songs but never knew it was Roxette.... And well, maybe it is because they were never seen as a "cool" band, more just like a nice band with some great songs.... But I am happy to share my Roxette love with everyone who wants to

What was your major? Are you a Bulldog? Well, Scott, all three of my brothers were Bulldogs (swimmers, too), but I was a Gaucho. And my major was the same as Keith's! It was a cool place to go to school, UCSB. I mean, how many schools can you look out your dorm room window and see a whale?!

so you were a Gaucho at Santa Barbara? Cool-i think Jim Rhome and the Oakland A'S Barry Zitto were also. man you must have been pretty good to swim there. I went to San Diego State for a year and I loved it! I used to wholesale at Santa Barbara-that area is incredible!
